P446 - got the "deliver this year?" email yesterday and the button magically appeared today. Delivery estimate is Dec 12-26. Performance, Black\Black, Grey 21", Carbon Fiber, mostly all the options.
Sweet - I'm P445 and mid December for me too! Good luck!

From the customers' POV, one of the most common needs/problems is the slowness of communicating VINs. Financing and insurance etc. is all dependent on having it, yet many don't get theirs till the delivery is under weigh!! This seems to reflect a big procedural gap. The VIN is stamped on the body in white even in advance of painting. What is lacking is recording in the order DB, so that the customer can be immediately notified and get on with things.

Making VIN communication timely would ease a lot of frustrations, it seems to me.
Agreed. I've had my VIN for a few days now and I'm very happy about that. However, I only received it after specifically requesting it via email to Tesla - I got a response almost immediately, so it certainly appears that they had it readily available. A day later, people started getting the "deliver December/2013?" emails. The floodgates do appear to be opening now but it alsmot seems like there are more deliveries scheduled for December than they can possibly make. Time will tell.

I have to believe that the factory will close for some time around Christmas/New Years, so this is likely a hard push now to produce cars that can be delivered over the holidays. (Ho ho ho -- who knew that Santa had a South African accent?)

Well, they're ramping up production so it makes sense that it'd seem like a rush.

Plus it's end of tax year, plus a holiday, plus extra sales will make Q4 look good.

(Tomorrow or Monday?)

They will probably be down for Christmas Day, but they will not be shutting down as most plants do for the week between Christmas and New Years. Maybe slow down after the start of the year, but will be full steam until 12/31.

Just got a call from Tesla! Told to expect final delivery email within the next 1-2 days and car should be ready to put on the truck shortly after.

Interesting note: They said that due to the rushed 2012 delivery my car most likely will not come with a delivery specialist. Instead the trucking company will just drop it in my driveway and a specialist will arrive within 1-2 weeks to go through everything in detail.

By this point I've played with the car so much, and read the forums enough, that I could probably handle it all on my own anyhow. :)

Very excited now!

Wow! I got the same call last night from Tesla. It is interesting you are in Charlotte and I am in Greenville, SC. Maybe our cars will be on the same truck too!

I'm also expecting mine to be put on a truck in the next couple days as well. My car is finished and paid for, so they just have to ship it. There's a good chance we'll see ours on the same truck. What is each of your VINs? Since I'm in Atlanta, it would make sense the truck would come this way first. I can see if there are other VINs visible and let you know it's on the way :)

Hey Tim -

No VIN yet, but the rep did say that since I already had financing etc. in place that they'd be able to get it on the truck very soon. That'd be awesome if they got them all loaded up on the same truck.

Wow - Greenville and Atlanta. Sounds like we need a meet-up. Although that'll probably need to wait until supercharging.

I just checked and I also had the red "Delivery" button!

I completed the online delivery info, and now have a factory pickup window of 12/15-12/31!

Yay! I got the red "Delivery" button too! P3167. Delivery date Dec 13 - Dec 27.
Thursday Solar City installed the circuit for the charger. Got the Dec. or Jan. delivery e-mail
shortly after Solar City left...
Of course, the car is my wife's (Honeybug). But I do get to drive it sometimes...
We've been waiting nearly 2 years.

With some responsible driving, you may actually be able to make it there and back in one charge. Of course, you can't do much else in the interim. But I could see myself heading up there and staying a bit while it charges enough range to safely make it home.

There's apparently a freebie J1772 station at 66 Richardson Street in Greenville, and I know the J1772's at Atlantic Station here in Atlanta are still free too. The charging infrastructure in the US isn't great yet, but it's certainly a LOT more pervasive than it used to be just a few years ago.

R456/VIN 1459 is scheduled to pick up at the factory tomorrow, 12/9 at 1:00.

In setting up my delivery for tomorrow I was told the delivery team is working 7 days/week through the end of the year. I assume they're off XMas day but that's it.

To heck with the Richardson street garage, we are going to be relocating our corporate offices early next year and I will have a Tesla Wall charger set up for all Tesla Models to "juice up" on me as they rip it up and down I-85! While it will not be a supercharger, it will provide the fastest charge you can get. I would love to get Elon to put one on the Greenville-Spartanburg line near BMW USA Manufacturing. It would be convenient and make a nice little statement.

Heck yea! Make sure to post the address once its installed and I'll make a swing down.
