Model S Delivery Dates and Sequencing

What state are you in? Tesla is not allowed to have DES's present in at least TX, GA, and I believe AZ (possibly MA too?). Unfortunately, dealer laws are antiquated in those states and aren't designed around silly things like the Internet. I had to take delivery myself for that reason.

If there are physical scratches on the car, the delivery company should have taken pictures of the car upon delivery for their insurance. You should be able to verify against those pictures if there was any pre-existing damage.

Hmm, didn't realize that GA has a different set of rules. Probably explains why the delivery specialist noted that delivery of the car (once built) will be quicker. I guess they don't need to schedule a delivery specialist.
btw, hows the car? Given how much people in Atlanta love their vehicles and use it as a status symbol- you must be getting a lot of looks. I have yet to see any on the road yet though- hopefully that will change next month!

I am in Ohio. The driver did not help me remove the shipping wrap which covers the entire car so he never saw the scratches He had to leave immediately because he wanted to get home for Christmas. I had to help him unload the cars (helping with the gate and guiding the cars off and on). He expected someone from tesla to be there.

Atrium. I am sorry for that not working out. The whole sequencing and delivery thing has not gone smoothly for a lot of people. Most on this forum will say that is the "early adopter tax"and tell you to stop complaining in a public manner. I don't think that's reasonable. When I reserved the car, I had a negative net worth and put the deposit on a credit card. It was a big commitment of a lot of money at a time when I had little. I expected a new level of service. I am assuming I was not alone in this view. When it didn't happen, I complained here and to Tesla and now the notifications are better. I wish they were more accurate.

Please contact ownership and make sure they understand your situation. Writing it off won't help you or future customers. Tesla has never done any of this on this scale. They need feedback. I would hate for the auto dealers lobby to be right but Tesla may prove that to be true unless they hear your story and others like it and respond accordingly.

That is very kind of you Walla2. I don't plan on saying anything more about it on this forum. I understand that this should be a positive environment. I am confident that it will get resolved.

Definitely take pictures and let Tesla know. Things do need to be improved.

You are welcome to share your experiences here both positive and negative. I also find it entirely reasonable to bring up an issue and look for it to get resolved with Tesla. Some people have taken the step to using a public forum to try and raise as much negative attention in order to get Tesla's attention on their issue and that is what some people have issue with, not what you are doing. Welcome by the way and I hope they resolve this issue for you quickly.

People do post the 'early adopter' line sometimes but that is to reset someones expectations that things are not always perfect with a new company ramping up production on a new product. This line does not mean that you shouldn't expect it to be made right by Tesla or that you can't share your experiences here.

Definitely talk to Tesla about that. It is purely a customer service aspect of whether they make it right or not, and they should. As this company grows they will need this stuff to actually be public, because hopefully they will publicly be making it right and showing their inner fortitude. Not everything is perfect on the first attempt, but it is how they make it up to those who received imperfections that is important.

The other day I received a custom made outdoor BBQ cover. The design was all done through my emailing pictures to the company/owner of the company. It showed up and didn't fit. It does however temporarily prevent the (unnecessarily large amounts of) rain from getting in and causing damage. The owner of the company said to wait until the dry season, and then ship it back to be made larger. Yours is a similar scenario where Tesla making it right can boost confidence in the company out of a negatie situation.

Take pics, Tesla should make it right, then post before and after pictures to show how well Tesla handled the situation!

Don't stop posting. Representatives of Tesla read these forums. They need to know the problems so that they can stop them from continuing. Those of us that are scheduled to follow you (and who should already have our VINs, but don't) are depending on all of you sharing your positive and negative experiences. Thanks!

Just had a wonderful call with Tesla and they will be resolving everything. I felt they truly understood how I felt. After reading all the delivery stories on here with such personal touch, they really understood how I felt let down. All is good!

and by the way, I have owned some pretty cool cars and NOTHING has personally moved me like this car. It is simply amazing.

Wow, I can't believe that. What you went through is completely different than what I did. We here in Western Florida are getting a much better experience. Ben Bird, a Tesla Delivery Specialist brings the vehicle on a flatbed behind a pickup. In my case yesterday morning, he showed up precisely on time and carefully deposited our Model S in the driveway. It had just been fully detailed and was in prestine, mint condition-absolutely stunning! He spent 3 hours with us, taking us through all the features and explaining everything. We then went for a Familiarzation drive. The paperwork took 90 seconds and I paid for the car with a check from my financing bank plus a personal check for the down payment. I would rate Tesla's handling of my delivery 10 out of 10. I have been waiting 3 1/2 years and the entire experience has been very rewarding. Now that we have the car, the fun really can begin.

Wow, and they actually loaded it on the truck without payment in full? Yeah, you're getting much better treatment than us buckeyes.

I think there must be a direct correlation with Tesla presence in the state of delivery...FL deliveries first go to a Tesla Service center and then to the owner. But in OH and PA, there are no service centers open as yet, and the transaction takes on a different nature. And we have seen even a more definitive line with TX and MA.

Nikoli, have you heard anything as to the location of your vehicle? My truck apparently departed Fremont over the weekend, but I have no idea how many stops it is making, or when it will arrive in PA. Nor have I received my title and registration packet, which I assume will be Fedexed based on other PA owner delivery experiences.

My truck left on Thursday--haven't heard a thing from my DS, a truck driver, or anything. Only reason I know the car's still not sitting at a lot in Fremont is because I called.

Yep I had to ping my DS for every bit of information also, and he helped expedite each transition to the next step, such as getting the MVPA generated, and now hopefully getting my title/DMV package sent. I don't think I am on your truck, since my wire wasn't completed until 4PM EST on Friday, and I wasn't loaded until after that. But since loading=delivered according to Tesla, who knows how accurately they track when the truck actually departs Fremont. So if I see a grey Dolphin with 19" wheels aboard when my truck arrives, I will be sure to let you know!

Haven't heard a thing since the payment cleared on Friday and it was released. I'm in the denial phase of ordering, denial that it will ever get here. I really only cared that it get here by Christmas eve. Since that's clearly not happening I don't care when it comes. Have a nice holiday all.

On yesterday's factory tour, I was seeing VIN's in the 3050-3150 range getting windshields and seats installed. Interestingly enough, it was the same robot doing these tasks by changing it's arm on it's own. Neat!

Very cool. The robots sound fascinating!

VINs in the 3150 range indicate that total production of COMPLETED Model S vehicles in 2012 of 3,143 is achievable if not a bit high.
