Model X December Deliveries

got mine today as scheduled in Paramus NJ. Great experience and took less than 1.5 hours. Paperwork took literally 3 minutes. Fit and Finish are excellent and QC seems to have gotten better. Memorized the checklist, and didn't see a single issue until tonight...

Ghosting is there...not terrible but not great...I'll call it in tomorrow to see if they have replacement windshields in the future. Didn't bother my wife, but it did bother me especially after making myself crazy reading every single thread on this forum.

Love love love the MX still...Kids love it too!

Just checked my voicemail and discovered a message saying that my delivery has been delayed with no explanation and just to call back. Even though the call was made about 30 minutes before the service center closed, there's no telling where I am in the cue now. At this point, I am feeling quite apathetic about this purchase. Once again, I will be postponing my HPWC installation but this time I will not be rescheduling until I am actually a Tesla or EV owner.

Spoke with my DS - The windshield is cracked. They're waiting for another one to be delivered. Other than that, I am told that my X is in pristine condition. I was even invited to come by there and see it which my wife wanted to do but I prefer to be patient for a few more days. Plus, Santa brought me a nasty cold. Pickup is rescheduled for 12/30/16. I'll keep all of you posted...

I wonder how it cracked... Transport? Stray bird? Meteor? Stress?

hoping your car is pristine. been following your experience.

Ha! I know, right?? They didn't have a reason for it. I will probably drop by the SC tomorrow and ask to see it. I'm just glad not too many people in my camp know about this because an intervention would be in order.
Hope they get it fixed up soon. I know ours were delivered close together. The SC guys seem really great at Decatur and really set me at ease about fixing a few minor post delivery issues I have. It will all be a distant memory once you have your car. Best of luck!

Spoke with my DS and she's told me on Monday that she needed 48 hrs to prep for delivery and that i should expect it between Wed - Fri. Tesla page still says in production, anyone have experience of when the DS advises something like that and how accurate it is?

Big thing to ask the DS is if they actually have the car. I had mine in production for a while and they said it was in transit but it was not. When they called me a week later and said I was pushed out a week (saying it was just now being put on the truck) and later that day the status updated to in transit finally. With that said, things are out of date sometimes on my tesla so who knows. I have seen some people say it still said in production when they got it so who knows. Mine said in transit from that day until about 12 hours after I took delivery.

Yes, they really do put your mind at ease. I just hope the replacement windshield isn't cracked like it was with one of the other members who was posting in the October Deliveries thread. I think they had 3 cracked windshields!...this wasn't in Atlanta though.

Picked my X90D up yesterday. Good experience overall- unlike any other previous car purchase. Very low-key, stress free. Paperwork took about 5 minutes (had to wait about 20 minutes for them to put the paperwork in order).

Fit and finish overall exceeded my expectations, especially having read though some previous owners’ experiences.

A couple of minor issues:
  1. A portion of the rubber seal that touches the top anterior surface of the right front passenger door sticks out by about 4 mm when the window is closed- kind of like a little appendix. I haven’t yet noticed significant wind noise, so I won’t complain about it.
  2. When the third row seats are folded, a segment of cloth tube is exposed (normal) behind both seats. Well, behind one of the seats, they neglected to place the cloth tube, so I have 2 wires (both of course housed in their respective sheaths) “exposed”. I showed this to the DS, and I’ll probably have it addressed at my 12,000 mile checkup.
I know you want to know about the body panels don’t you. My X has some very minor alignment issues, but not enough for me to have them address them- I’d like not to risk any unnecessary cosmetic damage. I’ve seen alignment issues on colleagues’ MBs, Porsches, and Maseratis. No biggie. Also, I scoped out other X’s and S’s on the lot being prepped for pickup, and they too had minor alignment issues.

I also know that you want to know about the ghosting. It’s there for me, but isn’t an impediment. My wife doesn’t really notice it.

I had the salient points of the Delivery Checklist in the back of my mind, so I didn’t take my paper copy with me while doing the walk-through.

The product specialist was chill, patient, and recognized I already knew as much about the car and Tesla Corp. as the average Tesla employee, so he basically showed me a few key features and that was that.

The car is BEAUTIFUL. I mean, I am driving the Starship Enterprise. I’m driving a work of art. For my wife and I, coming from a blue collar, Toyota/Honda background, no other word describes our ecstasy except “blessed”. We’re truly, utterly blessed to have been able to afford this car, and we pray we’re able to make use of it in good health.

We got the MC White color, and it’s gorgeous. It’s got pop. This of course is absolutely subjective, but we absolutely love the color combo we got.

I hadn’t test driven a “regular” 90D before driving ours, so I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of driving experience in a non-P version. I have to say I was shocked by the power the 90D has. My wife and our toddler absolutely loved it every time I slammed the pedal to the metal. Acceleration is effortless. It’s as smooth as gliding a butterknife through soft butter.

The falcon wing doors draw crowds. I hadn’t expected random folks to stop to take photos of our ride- would have been nice had they sought permission first but- oh well.

About a half hour after having left the Service Center, it occurred to me to test my Tesla app out. I had remembered reading on the forum that the app hadn’t worked for some people. Lo and behold, my app logged me into the car, and I achieved another level of amazement. I had never had a car that I could communicate with in this manner- and the thought of it only getting better gave me a nerdgasm.

I sincerely thank the active and supportive members of this forum. As nerdy as it sounds, I really feel I’m part of a special (not elite) group- a family of sorts- and for that and much more, my wife and I are truly thankful.

I agree with asking if they actually have the car. I finally asked last week and again today. I felt like no news was good news yesterday, so I didn't bother them yesterday since they told me they had it last week. I was actually invited to stop by there to see it for myself but I declined. We've all been waiting a long time for these vehicles, so it's fair to politely check in with these guys from time to time. I will be checking in for the rest of this week until my MX is in my possession.

My DS finally gave me a call just now to set up an appointment next Wed for delivery. He said my X is in the final stage of production and blah blah blah BUT if it is not ready by Wednesday then we will need to reschedule. I am still skeptical about this appointment although I feel relieved for a second when I saw his number ringing in my phone.

Update: DS called me this morning and said he is still not sure if I can pick up my X tmr. According to him my X is "very very very close to be ready" and he will stay until 10 tonight and if my X is ready by tmr morning then I can still pick up my X at 1pm. My gut feeling is it will not be ready on time. I don't know what "very very very close" means to tesla as I have heard similar terms numerous times already.
