Model X Delivery Checklist

We picked up the car on Friday. While the checklist is awesome, our story is a little different for buying used. No issues, except as noted below, and we were in and out in 30 minutes. We chose the expedited delivery. Signed the papers and went to walk the car around. Momma got her blue X!

1. Got an unexpected full Expel wrapped car so the paint is perfect!!!! Nice surprise!
2. Mobile charger internal fault, will be replaced later
3. No bag for the charger bundle, I didn't care but will ask for one
4. No slacker login: oops but again I'll ask, activated XM within an hour at home since we love that.
5. Detailing: needs a more thorough perfectionist hand (mostly the center console, just needed a wet wipe down)
6. Auto tilt reverse mirrors not working; will try a few toggle settings and screen refresh later, then call service
7. Missing tow hitch attachment or I can't find it; I'll never use it.

Everything else
- the interior white seats: perfect
- door panels perfect
- beltline aligned better than my 2013 P85 MS
- all other items functional no issue

Absolutely thrilled to have a Signature Model X #725 P90DL.

Update:
Tesla slacker login provided
Had to set setup auto tilt; my fault
New mobile charge and tow hitch package is ordered and 1-2 wk lead time
First time washing a wrapped car; holy crap that was easy!!!

My wife loves it as it's her car and it freed me to take my P85 up to Reno for work this past week.

+1 for the checklist; but for example it would be awesome to cross reference some items with the owners manual; see my example of auto tilt mirror vs page 40-42 of the manual

Just found this site. Wonderful job on the checklist and appreciate all who have contributed. Have it printed out and will take when I pickup my 100 D next week. Great to read all the positives about how Tesla deals with problems and fixes everything. I will have to remember this and try not to create a negative vibe. I have already been dealing with my sales rep by email and phone calls on many questions. My wife said the other day, "he's probably not going to appreciate you calling all the time". For a $100,000 plus car, I am going to call, text, ask, question.....anything I need to do to be able to feel satisfied with the purchase. This includes spending as much time as I need to at the delivery time to go over the check list. My wife agrees. Still very excited about beginning this adventure.

Thanks for sharing the checklist!
Wow that's a quite an impressive checklist for a $100k plus car:eek:. (even our < $20k Italian car did not have so many points to check on delivery  )
Well, let's see tomorrow, as we are going to pick up our X (Tilburg NL)... and yes we are very X-cited!

Congratulations with your fantastic car!
Just let me know if I should add something.
Thanks @jnuyens It sure is!
The key fob keychain thing we had to ask for, was not in the car.
I don't know if the Tesla goodiebag is sort of a standard item on delivery (according to the sales specialist this was one of the highlights at the delivery). But when I asked the delivery specialist about it, she told us that it was out of stock and did not include it anymore. Not even some flowers for the Mrs. Bit of a disappointment, both should be standard for a car in this class. I will ask the sales specialist about the goodiebag. ;)

Did you find any defects at all with the car?

I have never heard about a full 'goody bag', but we got a Tesla umbrella.
In our case, the sales specialist did promise something which didn't happen. Tesla did a good effort to make up for it. So it's probably a good idea to ask about it.

I updated the checklist slightly to reflect the last evolutions.

Some items from my delivery: no goodies at all, I’m thinking these have been totally discontinued as they transition to doing thousands of deliveries with the 3’s (no bow, no goodie/swag bag, etc.). Had a name tag on the counter and that was all. Car was 99% perfect which is what I want them to spend time on! Only issue was chargeport door needed to be adjusted to close perfectly and that was fixed on a few minutes.

I did get two key fobs; no issue there!

One item for the list which is still up for some discussion. My DS now says the cell phone dock is NOT included in PUP and the confusion (according to Palo Alto HQ) is becaus the website has not been updated in the accessory section where it still says it is included in PUP. You are supposed to purchase the dock if you want it. Others have reported different answers. I still got it since he had promised it to me.

I suspect this is also to speed up deliveries since having to install this for each new owner at delivery can take some time. So, a note to perhaps get the dock and install it yourself or get installed later may be in order.

Wait what!? Was it brand new custom order, inventory or a CPO? I'm picking up a inventory floor / service model on thurs. Any chance that would that come with the XPEL wrap?

Don't think it's new. :)
I mean, it's not *that* old, perhaps 18 months, but still.... still CPO, um, my bad, *used*.

Used the list. It was great. I actually don't have any issues for my car on the list. However, when I get back home and try to upgrade all the LEDs, the trunk LED (the one of the door) was actually not wired. I used my hand to fish around and there is no loose wires near it too. Will probably have to get them to take a look. Hopefully the wires are there just hidden somewhere

Super excited. Just took delivery of a new X75D (#67XXX) white exterior with black vegan. No PUP/EAP/7Seater.

This is our first Tesla. We took delivery at the new Fremont delivery facility. Got there around 9:45am. Everyone I talked to was very nice. From all the posts I read from this forum, I was under the impression that we could take as long as we want (within reason) to inspect the car before we drive out. The initial DS lady that showed us to the car was somewhat hasty in briefing us on some general setup for 15 minutes or so. Then my wife and I moved on to inspection on the car itself. During this whole time, I remember the DS lady mentioned at least 2-3 times that we have 10-15minutes to look over the car before driving out, because they need to prepare for other new delivery. I totally understand that there is a queue but we have spent a huge sum of money, so we believe we have the right to inspect before taking delivery. Don't get me wrong. She was very polite and carried a smile. The other DS's were very awesome, attentive, and patient as well.

Question to all: How long did you (fellow Tesla owner) inspect your new car before driving off? Two other families who came in around the same time took less than a hour before they leave. I am sure if they find what we found (see below), they will be back very soon.

As for ourinspection, we came in with a somewhat low expectation after reading over the checklist. So we pretty much looked at every inch of the car. I was quite delighted overall the car looks pretty good. There were some slight panel gaps but honestly nothing major. The paint job looks pretty good with one minor flaw below the clear coat. No swirls or scratches. Looking back to my previous car purchases, I think we just never looked as closely as this time when buying a Tesla. However, we did find some interesting things.

Interesting finds:
1) FWDs not line up: Noticed the two FWDs are not entirely "aligned". What I meant is when you are on one side of the car looking along the weather strip on the roof that sits between the FWDs and the back hatch, you will notice the weather strips along the two FWD do not "line" up, which indicate the FWDs probably do not sit "shoulder-to-shoudler" if that makes sense. In other words, one FWD maybe sitting a few millimeter behind the other FWD. This may not be a problem, because this offset may still be well within the spec tolerance. Since the car passed water test, it means there should not be any leakage issue. I will keep an eye on this one, since I don't know FWDs well enough.

2) Missing seat belt latch in one of the two seats in the 3rd row. This is a BIG one. This is the latch that snaps into the buckle. So yeah... without it, you can not buckle up. Not to mention the same seat belt is twisted. This could not be fix on the same day, so I need to take the car back in a week after the part comes in. Sounds like Tesla may need to remove the entire seat to fix it, since the seat belt is part of the seat assembly.

3) Found a mallet: After the morning inspection, the only thing Tesla needed to do was some cleaning up of some sticky adhesive found sparsely around the car's edges, grooves, trims, etc. Since Tesla needed a hour or so for this work, we went out for lunch. My wife and I were hoping for a smooth process post-lunch. When we were doing one final check, we found a MALLET below the bottom tray in the trunk footwell. lol.... Yes, a MALLET! We found it because my wife was inspecting the trunk footwell, and found the bottom of this area not flat. So I dug deeper and pulled out the entire bottom tray, thinking the bottom tray was just not install properly due to tight fitting. Little did we know, there was a mallet below the tray. Given the tray was a tight fit already and then there was a mallet below it, the tray could not sit flush to the bottom, hence, it was not sitting flat. The DSs and us had a good laugh about it. Maybe Thor visited my car.

Overall:
Love the car. Satisfy with the DSs mostly. Hope Tesla can do a better job in QC before delivery in the future. This will make the DS's job much easier, and also speed up the delivery process. (Imagine the delivery number skyrocketing with M3.) We ended up spending a bit over 2 hours in the morning and then another hour after lunch just for picking up.
Afterward, we drove the car straight to OCDetailing for some good old Xpel wrapping. :)

Hope others find this interesting or useful.
