Model X Delivery Checklist

It's expensive for me too, but if everything is under warranty, can't I just inspect it at home? Of course paint and body damage would need to be identified on the spot in case they think I did it myself post delivery.
You can inspect at home and make an appointment to fix later. If you find any issues bigger than a scratch, they will most likely have you come back for follow up visit anyway (my experience is Orang county both Buena Park and Costa Mesa) these are the two busiest in the nation aside from Fremont

Maybe I'm a little self conscious knowing that my delivery specialist is overloaded with work. That checklist seems so thorough that it would take hours to go through, and naively, I was hoping the factory would be doing QC so I don't have to worry about most things. Guess that may not be the case.

I also happen to live 5 minutes away from my service centre. Subconsciously, that's probably why I ended up buying the car after driving by the dealership every day.

Does Tesla actually let you take the car for a test drive before paying? I've never done this on any car I've purchased (all of them have just "worked"), but I'm getting a little concerned given all the things I'm supposed to check for.

I actually wrote up an alternate, shorter checklist which I may or may not share if people care. But it's pretty much what @MXWing just said. I added a couple of other bonus items if you're bored ;)

Please share. I am also concerned about time needed at SC going through the whole checklist while I have kids in tow. I could leave the kids at home, but I think this would be a neat experience for them, especially since they don't know that we are getting one.

Just picked up my M-X yesterday. I sent Tesla my checklist ahead of time. I was able to re-use the checklist from this thread and add in my check boxes to make the verification process quick and simple. Then I reconfirmed the items at delivery time. Since they had gone through my checklist already, my re-verification was quick.

I did not find any issues. Great delivery experience.

Yes, that's definitely a good idea (to inspect paint/body damage) and do a more thorough inspection when you get home. Of course, if you live far from a SC, that's something to take into consideration.

The one big advantage of doing a more thorough inspection at pick-up is that sometimes Tesla can tweak and fix things on the spot. For example, there was a few misaligned panels/trim that they were able to quickly fix before I drove off (also very handy if you live far from the SC). Otherwise, getting a service appointment may take weeks/months after pickup.

Very true. But at the same time, many find the current 4 page long checklist a bit daunting and it makes people fearful of what issues they might find. Sadly, I think most everything on there is there because someone probably ran into the issue, but I think a lot of what's there these days is not warranted and needs to be pruned.

You hit the nail on the head. That checklist just worried me. I like the title of your list "less paranoia"!

BTW peeps, even if you save the checklist to your google drive, the document is not a copy. You are still changing the shared document! I just saw a lot of edits that I don't think are appropriate for everyone. And someone marked my question/comment as resolved even though there was no resolution.
