A question from a non photographer. If the lens is closer to the glass than the distance from the flash to the lens, still true? Any suggestions on how to make it work? We are all dying to see the interior.

All you need is enough difference in angle that the flash doesn't bounce off the window directly into the lens.

The ideal solution would be a portable strobe placed well off to one side. Failing that, getting the lens very close to the window and using a lens hood will work. You can probably even get most of what you want by taking the picture into the car at an angle with an on camera flash.

Sigh. Where are the car-paparazzi when ya need 'em. Camped out with telephotos galore at SuperChargers from Gilroy to Petaluma. Waiting for that one glorious shot. Of the inside of the X!

We oughta start a Kickstarter, and whoever gets great inside-the-X shots wins the prize.

Or just wait a month or two until Tesla shows it off themselves... Just a thought... It's been three years, what's another couple of months?

Odd, since the SC is only 50 miles from Freemont, why would Tesla risk the Mod X being spotted to test at a super charger? If there is one in the factory (seems reasonable), then why test charge in public? The only thought (IMO) would be testing the "connection" authorizing the car for charging on public charger. Other thoughts welcome. Good pic's BTW. Thanks.

The other obvious option is the conspiracy theory one that Tesla wants us to see a little of the car to keep the hype going. :)

Possibly they are doing enough driving around beyond that supercharger that they don't want to (or can't) go all the way back to the factory every time?

I can't believe nobody has mentioned the obvious: Someone at Tesla wants to save on electricity costs in factory budget and charges at the local public Supercharger instead! ;)

Joking aside, the fact that there is a guy with a laptop on the bonnet (the car cover photo) could suggest monitoring of the charging process... Which could imply a larger-than-before battery if one were so adventurous.

Maybe the test-mule driver will get a notification from Elon that this is not the intended use of the Superchargers as they are supposed to be for long-distance travel and that he should be charging at the factory...

While I'm leaning on them simply necessity-charging to keep their test run practical, one thing came to mind was testing different Supercharger configurations - other on this forum are more versed on what those differences may be.

Man, you guys are too polite. Work in teams, a beautiful woman keeps the attention of the engineers geeks manning the Model X, while her accomplice gets in the car and drives it way to a secret tear down location.

Uhhh, what makes you think all the engineers are males? (They're not.) Or female and just prefer women? ('Oops' is an appropriate response. :) )

If you REALLY wanted more info, you should have applied for a job and gotten on the Model X team. :) That's what I would have done.
