It's amazing how different experiences can be with TESLA. It obviously comes down to the last mile (sales/service center) and because of his, the impression can swing either way so easily.

I'm not sure if TESLA has a delivery specialist or not, but if not they really need to create that department to collect the data of each encounter and continue to improve using the feedback.
So i just got back. Oakville is pretty awesome with the delivery. Have a relatively flawless y. There was a small issue at the passanger headlight where they did a small touch up. The only way to correct is to address the whole fender which I will not let them take off, as it will be worse after addressing it then now. I brought my bdoy shop guy to pickup so he combed the whole car and said not to touch it. Otherwise flawless. The heat was insane, must have been 50c in the sun where they parked it. No one cared that we were 4 people there for 2hrs inspecting it before signing.

Congrats!

I rejected mine today at Lawrence Center because of Color Mismatch. There is another white one even worst with VIN#16xxx.

Weird that I dont see a colour change at fender to door. Is it a misaligned door showing the colour on 2 planes maybe? Ehat did the SC say about the colour issue? Does it display the same when looking from bavk door forward?

I did not check it from the rear view. There are some minor issues with the cars as well, like trunk not automatic locking, spoiler loose on right side, left tail light got scratches, wrinkles on headliner, ect...

Delivery Assistant said it needs repaint to fix the issue. He did not push me to take the delivery, even he apologized for it. In terms of the service, I would give 5 stars.

The shop in oakville that will do ppf and ceramic wants $1500 for the front end, and $4000 for the full car.
I can provide their details for anyone who needs it, my car is going in next week.
I am doing 35% tint with ceramic on the front windows. Does anyone know what the rest of the glass on the car has, including the roof? I dont know if those have ceramic or need it. Anyone knows?

Plus, I checked all white cars in the lot from the same way I checked my MY. None of white Model 3, S, and X have the color mismatch issue. I am ok that the color is a little off on the bumpers, but not on door panels.

I was surprised today, I expected it to be worse. The minor things wouldn’t bother me, but a ding or dent would. The SC has been doing repairs before car gets delivered, so whatever issues it may have had were addressed before I saw it. Its the contactless pickups that walk into a mess it seems.

As far as I know, all the darker windows/glasses do not have protection on UV, might have some heat resistances.

I will put at least 70% on rear windows, and roof glass.

Mine is late 15xxx.

If you are not far from the center, you may want to take a look before delivery, so you do not have to worry about it then.

Same angst here. I convinced my 74 y-o Dad to go Tesla last year and got him to reserve a Y. He is scheduled to pick his white Model Y this Thursday in Montreal (vin 16xxx). I will be driving down that day from Ottawa to do the delivery inspection for him. If the doors paint does not match like these ones, I will certainly feel like an unworthy son for pushing him to dive into Tesla :-(

Come on Tesla, fix these visually faulty cars before delivering them. This is embarrassing, especially for those like me who try to get more converts for you.

Good luck on your delivery, and bring your check list for a thorough inspection.

I think Tesla definately knows the paint issues because this cannot be missed at the final Inspection at Fremont, but they still decide to let these cars out of the plant.

Thank you

My dad was supposed to get delivery originally one week earlier, on June 25. He got me in contact with his delivery specialist on the 23rd and I told the DS that we would be vigilant on the color of the doors given what has transpired on this forum about the first white model Ys being delivered to Canada. My dad then got a call on June 24 that his delivery was postponed to July 2nd without further details... I just hope they fixed it, and fixed it well, so that I can finally share with my old dad the joy of owning and driving a Tesla.

Am in a similar position. I was supposed tp pick up today and I call on Saturday and asked about the car and voiced my concerns. A couple hours later I was told me car hadn't arrived yet and would be scheduled for July 4.

I am also late vin 15xxx and wouldn't be surprised if my car was produced close to MacZ and has similar issues. I think I will call again.

Just picked up MY today at 13:00 in Montreal. Had my check list with me and took at least 90 minutes to go over. Brought it over to Valkyrie PPF to wrap and all.

Frunk wide gap on the passenger side
Passenger door to tight and is chipping away at the paint
Tail gate would not open by itself needed help and gaps all around are wide
Headlight driver's side was not flush and needs to be fixed with the fender
Taillights are definitely not flush and gaps very wide
Door to charger is not flush needs to align with the taillights
Inside gap at sky roof finish very wide

Paint was surprisingly better than I was expecting. All and all very nice card drives with one pedal like a dream. Don't know why brake pedal exists. My wife is very happy with her gidt

Just back from Valkyrie

Spent 2:30 hours with Ranger, great guy great job fixed everything except the following. I must go to service late July to try and fix the rest

Tail gate would not open by itself needed help and gaps all around are wide
Headlight driver's side was not flush and needs to be fixed with the fender

Very happy with after sale support

Hi All,

First time posting here on TMC.. I’ve been following this thread in quite detail and appreciate all the tips that people have posted for their Model Y delivery etc. Here’s my delivery experience:

My Model Y order:
Build: White/black, LR AWD, Gemini 19” wheels
Order placed: Mar 2, 2020
VIN: 19XXX

My Delivery Day:

I sold my car over the weekend, in anticipation of my delivery.. I got a super lowball trade-in offer and decided to sell privately. Got $7,300 more privately, and negotiated keeping my car until the end of the month..

Pick up was scheduled in Vancouver BC, at the new delivery centre on Great Northern Way.

Arrived a bit early. Lots of people picking up their vehicles. Noticed lots of MY’s with similar builds.. the placard hanging off the mirror was clearly labeled with delivery time & last few digits of VIN.

I eagerly searched the lot for my MY. It’s not there :(

I checked in and was told to wait...

While waiting, I see the process. Everyone is given an opportunity to look over their car and then they go inside to do the paperwork. I see lots of happy customers driving off. In their place a new Model Y or 3 replaces their spot. It’s busy…

In the time I was waiting, there was maybe 2 other buyers that brought up a number of issues. I overheard one guy ask if the car was used because the front seats had wear/tear already (lol) + a bunch of issues with gaps and alignment. That was a MSM PUP. The other Y was a similar build to mine. The front right quarter panel was wedged upwards at the headlight. They didn’t drive away so maybe they were waiting for a quick repair to align that part.

30mins goes by and finally someone comes to give an update. “So, your car is currently getting detailed.. there’s a paint issue that needs to be repaired at a later date… and you can refuse delivery if you don’t approve of it”. I’m thinking.. why are they ‘detailing' my car just before delivery?? This isn’t a good sign..

Another 30 mins later, they pull up with my Y. The paint defect (on the hood) is beneath the clearcoat. Although small, you could also feel the blemish. To repair it, they’d definitely need to repaint the entire hood. In the time I was waiting, I think they were frantically trying to buff it out haha. If that was the only defect, I might be okay with keeping it. In the 5 mins I looked over the car this is what else I found (basically what so many issues that others have mentioned):

  • Paint colour of the front & rear bumpers did not match the body.
  • Door gaps along the bottom near the rocker panels (wider towards the front of the vehicle).
  • Trunk was recessed into body, which made the rear lights stick out by 1/2".
  • The quarter panels were fitted really tight to the hood. Like maaaybe 0.2 mm clearance.
  • Both sides of the (black plastic) trim near the rear tires were not aligned/warped.
  • Gap at the trunk and roof was almost 1/2” wide.
I don’t have any photos of the defects.. the delivery guy said I can’t take any photos because it’s not my car…

The only good thing I noticed was the door window trim was level. But I think this caused the rest of the doors to be misaligned (at rocker panel and near the hinges etc).

I didn’t bother checking the interior because I knew it already had too many issues. In Canada, this 'base' car costs $83K! I highly doubt they will repair any of the defects. They’ll just throw it back into the delivery list and hope the next buyer doesn’t notice those things.

The delivery guy was nice and didn’t pressure me into taking this one. But he also didn’t offer any credits of any kind to get home or anything for that matter. Just that they were so busy and can’t keep up with the demand. Nice. If this kind of delivery experience happened to any other ‘luxury’ car manufacturer, they would have done something. Seriously now I don’t know how to feel coming from a (ICE luxury) car with 3 superficial issues (1 tiny rock chip and 2 minor int issues that I caused) in 4 yrs.

Anyway, hopefully I don’t have to wait too long for the next one… fingers crossed. Man the anxiety continues...

Good luck for anyone picking up their Y!!
