My CPO experience is already awful.

Earlier today I got a call from my CPO advisor about the email I sent him the other day, asking for updates. He said the car is currently being refurbished, and gave me a timeline. Not a particularly good one, but we're still within the original 6 weeks estimate, so it's fair, and I'm glad I got an update. No pictures still.

But more importantly, I just got another call from Tesla. They had read this thread and from my location figured out who I was. I got to talk to them about my problems too, which was nice. I was informed that my previous CPO advisor is now on paternity leave, which means that at the time when he was being unresponsive he was probably dealing with these issues, so that explains a lot.

He also acknowledged that the price increase halfway through the deal was a significant error on their part, and to make it up to me, they're.. GIVING ME THE CAR FOR FREE!!!! Just kidding. But they are throwing in a free LTE upgrade, which I had requested and was getting ready to pay for. It's worth about $500 plus tax. So it's definitely something, and makes me feel better about the whole thing.

I am hoping for a smooth experience from now on - I will definitely inspect every nook and cranny in the car before I take delivery, and hopefully they will be understanding about that, too.

I'm glad Tesla made things right for you... Also very glad to know that they actually look over forums like this and keep up with their customers. This makes me feel much better about the CPO process, and hopefully when I finally find the one (85D, SAS, AP1, less than $65K) I won't miss it due to delays such as what you ran in to.

Hope you can find a good one!

A 85D with SAS and AP1 that's under 65K will almost certainly be 35k+ miles (which is to me no problem as long as it's CPO) and very few other options. But to be honest I'm not sure what other options (other than tech) you really need...

Mileage isn't really a worry, as I drive 50K every year. No matter how few miles it has on it when I buy it, I'll never get ahead on payments. Being electric and with an unlimited mileage drivetrain warranty, i'm hopeful I can drive it until I pay it off and then get another year or two out of it. I figure as range starts to drop, superchargers will be much more available... I'm not excited about replacing an MCU or anything like that, but hopefully I can be lucky.

Looks like we're blowing right through the updated date they gave me - the car was supposed to be done this past Wednesday so it could be shipped to NC for delivery some time next week. I was also told I was gonna get pictures when the refurbishment was done.

If this had been met, I think the total time would have been 6 weeks, the tail end of the range that was promised to me when I put the deposit down in the beginning of March.

Needless to say, none of it happened - the week passed with no response to my email today, and no pictures still. This I am sure means the car was not done, so I am guessing it will (maybe) be done next week, and delivery will (MAYBE maybe) be the week after that...

While them trying to make it all up to me by giving me a free $500 LTE upgrade was definitely appreciated, it doesn't make up for the huge $3,500 price increase and the generally horrible experience I've had with them regarding their responsiveness and timelines and promises... this is a problem not only for just now because, obviously, I will be dealing with this company and its people throughout my ownership of the car... I've been questioning myself - do I really want that?

I have been looking forward to getting my Tesla. But I'm also getting very close to the point where I'll consider just cutting my losses and canceling the whole thing; and getting an A7 instead for nearly half the price. Every day it seems less and less worth it.

It's all made much worse by the fact that I currently don't have a car and every day is an adventure about "how do I get from here to here?"... although my stupidity regarding this is hardly Tesla's fault. Doesn't make my situation any better though...

At this point this thread might just gonna turn into a daily-ranting-about-the-same-thing thread, so maybe I'll just stop updating.

Depends on the year of the A7 but I think i'd rather have that than a 2013 P85.

From what I know there isn't a huge amt of difference in A7's between 2013-2015 (pre-facelift) in terms of... anything really. So I might go for a 2013 CPO A7 that has Driver Assist. Which is close to Autopilot - and has the most important feature of AP Teslas for me, which is emergency auto braking. I'd be saving about $25,000, too. The problem is I had really prepared myself for a Tesla and even though it might not be the correct choice for me any more, it's really hard to get out of it. I still prefer the Tesla by a mile, just give it to me and let me pay for it!! :

Just to be brief, the CPO experience has degraded over the last year. Last May, I ordered one and had it within 3 weeks. In February, I ordered a 2nd for my wife, and was told 4-6 weeks. It has been over 6 weeks, and communication is like pulling teeth. At 4 weeks, I was told that the vehicle was in Buena Park for finalization and detailing. I offered to pick it up there to save time. Ignored. After a few more inquiries over the last 2 weeks, I was told it was being shipped to San Diego despite my offer. At 6+ weeks, I was told it was being detailed again in San Diego and that the delivery specialist would contact me. Total silence to my inquiries. So, the car is /0 miles away, no one can give me status, and I soon leave town for 3+ weeks. Completely unacceptable.

Sounds about right, very similar experience here. I get the impression that they don't really know what's going on and just make up timelines to keep you on board.

From what I can gather, the majority of vehicles "available" on the CPO program aren't available at all. When someone puts money down for one, it gets pulled out and enters a looong period of refurbishment & waiting for parts.

There are a couple of ready to go CPO's I believe, but they're definitely in the minority.

Well, I went to Buena Park to take delivery despite being told that the car was in San Diego. Hurried detailing job - I'll clay bar and do it right next weekend. One interesting bit of news - as of 4/1, they no longer give out the swag - no umbrella, pen, coffee mug, pin, etc. Oh well...

I got extremely lucky. After taking Buena Park undefined time for inspection it hape That there was better yet more expensive carr available at my lockal SC. On Wednesday I transfered the deposit to it. Delivered yesterday. As I typ I am supercharging ain the middle of my first road trip. Can't be happier

Good for you! Now that my wife has her Tesla, she's quite happy. Tell me - any swag items with your delivery?

i've been burned on used cars too many times that i've only bought new cars since. I know its not an option for some people, but thats just me. did you try teslainventory.com to search for vehicles?

An equivalent new tesla (well would be a 90d instead of 85d) is at least $25,000 more expensive. I could get an 60D instead but even that would be $10,000 more expensive after incentives and I get a much reduced range... so unfortunately that doesn't make much sense to me

Surprise surprise. After being assured I'd get an update on Saturday nothing happened. And after chasing around the DS and the initial sales person, I have found out my car is still not done - pushing it back to the week of 04/21 now.

I'm wondering how much stock to put into this new date.
