My CPO experience is already awful.

my process was long, but they told up front (8 weeks) love the car, but after a few weeks, t can 'thear anyone on the phone (they can hear me) and i have two different license plates (one came with the car) and another came in the mail. I call the DS people and they are looking into the license plate and will be taking my car into the service center next week to get the phone taken car of. It a piano, but i got a good deal and have 4 years of warranty

I got a copy of the 200 point inspection on my CPO last week, which pointed out what items "passed" and what was "repaired". I also requested a copy of the alignment, which they provided.

Not sure why they would say they can't provide it. Hope they find you a great replacement- at a discount for the trouble.

Unfortunately no discount to be had. Tesla will only drop the price on a car if they are ready to drop the price on a car. I'm getting another car from Ohio this time, which is closer, and they are estimating it in 3-4 weeks. In the mean time, I may get to drive the S85 I picked up for a couple of weeks. They may make me rent another car until the new one is ready. I'm going to push to keep until the new car is ready, but I understand their position. I drive 500 miles a week, and that is a lot of depreciation on their part. Mind you, given the condition of this thing, it probably should've been wholesaled out and not part of the CPO program.

At pick up at Westmont, I did specifically request a list of everything done to the car during refurbishment. Alignment specs on the car, battery stats, etc... was provided with nothing. DS insisted they never get to see these things and they are handled by the CPO/Refurb team.

Tesla did agree to take the car back. They did offer another car with less features, but less miles that would be ready in about 2 weeks, but it was also 10% more than the car I purchased. After deliberation with the wife, we decided not to compromise, and I ended up spending 15% more than the car I originally purchased to get what I wanted.

TL;DNR - Tesla is taking back the car, and I'm getting another one.

That's easy enough to say. However, A) Tesla isn't in all states. And B) They do not keep CPO inventory on hand for viewing at the store prior to purchase. Their process is the only way to go if you want a "CPO" Tesla. Otherwise you'll have to go private party or third party dealer.

Yes, it is easy to say how important visual inspection is. Unfortunately, miles don't dilute that. I've bought CPO and personal sale Teslas, and would really have to say the same applies. No replacement for high res images, and gauging the honesty of "no, there haven't been any accidents", directly from an owner. Carfax impacts value, but can't tell you there has been no accidents, no matter how clean one is. Tesla's inspections go beyond this, or began to early on in the CPO program. It's too bad substantial last minute labor is happening after sales (is there any reason for this?). In any event, your case proves the point. I'd go maybe a couple states, to visit CPO's. If a dealer location is listed as having them, and won't show them, then something is seriously wrong.

Dude share the pics!!, If folks don't call out these issues very publicly Tesla has no real reason to improve. My 40,000 CPO had a few issues with the interior that are in the process of being addressed by the service team.. Parts are on the way I was told... I am pretty sure they will be resolved. But it sounds like you had a pretty horrible experience for day one. This type of service should be pretty easy to fix if Tesla cared. Step up the customer service!!.. Especially if you buy a car without ever seeing it!!

Well another car has also popped up that fits my criteria, and is also in the final stages of "completion". This saga might be over soon, but I'm spending more money than anticipated. I suppose that's life though.

That's only 'life' if you wanna buy a Tesla. Literally any other car company, you'd have been absolutely fine and driving your near-flawless CPO car for the last two months.

Absolutely true. I hear though that Tesla is trying to remedy this with cars that are closer to being ready.... I guess our complaints have been heard. This is where they are pulling the "substitute" cars from where they are saying we could have something done within a week or two. My original fear is that these were someone else's rejects.

April 4th I put my deposit on a p85 CPO. Was told four weeks. Since being a tesla nuthugger forever I've read all the bad CPO stories. I've yet to get truely excited about it until the car is in my driveway. I have not received a email from my delivery specialist yet, I had to email my CPO dealer a few times three weeks in before I got a response. He has added two weeks for delays. More than likely its parts related since that seems to be a hold up on most people, but I just want to be told directly. I'm 100% cool with being told to wait if it means getting the car done correctly. Just hope that everything works out well in the end. I'll step down from my soap box now. P.S. anyone in Orlando want to sneak in an take pictures of a red p85 hiding in there somewhere I would love to see a real picture of it.

I took delivery of my S 85D this Saturday. There is some wind noise (they've changed the windshield for the CPO so I'm guessing it's related to that) which I am hoping to get fixed at some point, but apart from that, this car is in absolutely flawless condition even though it has 36,000 miles on it. The interior is impeccable and the exterior is literally of a new car's - not one swirl mark, rock chip, or scratch to be found as far as I could inspect.

Everything works perfectly and it drives like a dream - doesn't feel at all like a giant step down from the P85D I was loaned for a week. The multipattern black + piano interior looks MUCH better than the grey leather the loaner had, and amazingly, I think the base sound system sounds quite good (possibly thanks to no engine noise). I will quickly run out of superlatives if I try to in-depth describe how pleased I am with the 85D and this particular CPO 85D.

From what I could see the Raleigh service team did an absolutely amazing job with this. Big shoutout to Trevor, Ben, Anthony, and David to make this possible.

Reading this thread is not making me very optimist about my experience. I placed my deposit back in April 14 and got a call April 17 from the CPO advisor setting expectations to at least 6 weeks. After that I haven't had any other updates, I been emailing him every week to ask for pictures or updates and he usually takes a day or two to reply back saying that he got no updates. While I appreciate setting expectation on how long is going to take, I would like to receive more updates on what is going on. In 3 weeks there has to be changes or at least an opportunity to take some pictures of the car.

I'm in Orlando; I'll see if I can drive by Tesla and look for a red P85.

Outside of forums I've talked to two people who have both waited 7 weeks before they actually got the ball rolling. Both are super happy with everything after everything was done. The biggest thing is that tesla is really still an infant in terms of a company.
If you do swing by tesla PM me so in can send you a care package for your time.

I got my first CPO order last April 14. It is also my first Tesla :). My CPO advisor responded immediately and we set up a phone call at the same day and he explained to me regarding the process and wait time which is gonna be 6-8 weeks. Here I am now patiently waiting.
