Regarding non contact delivery...we're picking ours up Saturday and the Tesla employee pretty much told us to expect the same thing. Hand over paper work, get the keys, go about your business. He said "We will not touch your car"..

Uh, but doesn't that sound a bit odd? How did they build the car, test it inside, and drive it to where you pick it up if they "won't touch your car". I guess they are banking on the fact that the surfaces won't hold a virus for very long

I'm so jealous of those getting their deliveries! Congrats to you all! I ordered a black/black M3P on 3/5. I see every color combo available in the Tesla existing inventory, except for black/black. With the Freemont plant essentially shutting down, I'm thinking my 2-4 week estimated delivery time will now be 2-4 months. :( Hopefully a VIN will show up on my account before then. /fingers crossed

im in LA. join my pain bro.

I ordered a black/black full loaded m3 with the 20's and FSD and the kitchen sink back on Feb 7th. got the 2-3 week text on march 9 with a random text a few days ago stating the car is set to leave fremont today (20th) and would be delivered "shortly thereafter". Still no vin in source and after texting back to the number I have been getting these random texts from, no one has bothered to respond.

still optimistic.....

Picked up car, could not find a single defect.

My scheduled delivery was pushed back three times, so today I decided to reach out to the Delivery Center to see what was up. I had to call a few times over a couple of hours to talk to the one guy working it (I felt sorry for him, he sounded like he was swamped). He finally admitted that the reason my delivery kept on getting pushed back was that my assigned VIN needed paint correction and that it was stuck at the outside vendor in their backlog. I accepted it and thanked him for being upfront with me, because the transparency was all I wanted in the first place.

Couple of hours later, I had the idea to look at the existing inventory and I found an identical car, newer VIN, at the same delivery center. So I called back, talked to the same guy and basically said “hey, if you assign me to that VIN instead, does that speed things up?” He said, “yeah, that will work!” Sure enough, VIN was changed immediately and the car will be delivered directly to my house on Monday. So it’s worth a shot calling your delivery center right now and seeing what options are available to you if you want to take delivery now.

Here’s my experience - seems I was pretty fortunate.

3/4 - Visited Tesla in Burbank (in SoCal). Did a quick test drive and ordered a white Model 3 Performance with black interior and performance upgrade no FSD. Was told that I’d have the car by the end of March. Set Tesla Burbank as the pick up location.
3/5 - Received welcome text from Tesla. Completed all of the online stuff that was required.
3/9 - Received text from Tesla indicating that delivery was expected in 2-3 weeks
3/16 - Found VIN in code
3/17 - Received text from Tesla confirming that my car would be delivered to my work address in 1-3 days (not what was expected, but good to know the car was close...); VIN showing in Tesla account online.
3/17 through 3/18 - Numerous emails, text, calls to set pickup back to Tesla Burbank...finally everything confirmed for 3/19 evening pick up.
3/19 - Car picked up at 6:30 PM at Tesla Burbank...right before the safer at home directive went into effect (phew!). Car looks like it was in pretty good shape except for a slightly lifted driver’s door window sill molding. Issue was documented, so at some point, I’m sure it will be addressed...

All in all, just about 2 weeks from start to finish!

So I’m out of here. Collected the car this morning.

It’s been nothing but a great experience the whole way. My SA was literally the most helpful, chill person I’ve ever bought a car from.

I check the car over, everything looked great. Couldn’t find anything of note on the car, maybe one panel alignment but no where near anything major.

took it straight to the PPF place for full front and full ceramic coating plus tint.

now the painstaking wait until I can go collect it finally.

I did a couple hard pulls on the way to the PPF shop but was scared to get any rocks flying up so took all the slower safer roads.

car is amazing.

best of luck to everyone waiting. It’s been nothing but smooth for me upto this point. Now hoping ppf ceramic and tint goes well and I’ll have my car all done and finished soon

Hand off/free delivery was strange, but I completely understand it. They had us inspect the car (just a few minor things) then flash the hazards when we were ready to go. All in all, it was a very different car pick up experience...but it's a Tesla, so different is good!

I just finished an email exchange with a delivery specialist. I ordered a red/white PUP model 3 on March 8. VIN showed up in the source on March 18. The car is going to be delivered to my home within about a week. I live in hundreds of miles away from the nearest delivery center. I was expecting to probably not get the car since those delivery centers are in Seattle.

It is completely bonkers that I ordered a car online, without talking to a human (not counting a few emails) and it'll be delivered to my house out in the middle of nowhere. Even my trade-in is going to be taken away when they drop off the car! That's crazy! That's some serious social distancing.

Be sure to inspect your car good. Sucks cause if you do find something, you do have the option to have fix it on the spot as if you were picking it up at DC.

Aye, lemme ask yall..

SO still no VIN for me and rep is not helpful. to recap I ordered black/black M3 with all the upgrades and FSD.

when I look at existing inventory, I WANT FSD for sure. if I just check the box for FUll SELF Driving, does that also include autopilot? Example, if I see a car that has Full Self Driving listed but NOT autopilot explicitly stated, is it safe to assume the car will have autopilot if it has FSD? i know you can have autopilot without FSD.

also, if you were to get an existing car with NO FSD, can you "add" it when you are ordering it?

dumb questions perhaps.
