I wondered about this too… All VIN numbers for all vehicles are already online. Many new car dealers even show in their listing. I presume the theory is the VIN number is fine but it’s not good to know who owns the VIN number?

But now how do I find out who the heck is the real person behind our made up forum user names?😵‍💫
And why cover the license plate in these photos? Do people cover their plates when out in public? Isn't the fear the same, whether someone can see your plate in an online picture vs out in public?

Figured I would share since I know window tinting (especially on the rear windshield) is a hot topic. I went to a place in Nashville that has done it a bunch of times and I think they did a solid job. 18% on the sides and rear windshield. You can see from the inside the slight difference from the roof but that doesn’t bother me, in fact, I actually like it because it helps me see a little bit more. If you are in this area, I’d recommend Titan Motoring.

Its silly unfounded paranoia. I'm on watch sites and people blur their serial numbers so people don't claim their watches or "steal" them. o_O

Also I can go up to any car and read the vin plate thru the windshield. 🤣

All these "performance mods" like spoilers and "red" calipers crack me up...especially the calipers for breaks we don't use. 🤣
Depending on the scenario, brakes are actually a benefit. Granted they aren't utilized on streets daily, but in emergency or track situations the brakes are a massive benefit.

Esthetics is also subjective, just like wheels, car color, interior color. Why should we exclude painted calipers or lips and spoilers?

I use the __brakes__ less than an ICE vehicle, but certainly use them, and if they're going to be visible, the red calipers looks pretty fantastic.

Personally, the mods that make me cringe the most are:

1) Those molded mud flaps, because we've seen how those rub all the way through paint to the metal (even through PPF), and

2) Any hydro-dipped fake carbon fiber part. It just looks so bad, especially front splitters and side skirts where the pattern gets so laughably distorted. Or those three-piece snap-together front splitters (and two piece side skirts). I mean, you spent so much money on your car, maybe even spent thousands on a wrap, and you're spending $50 on the cheapest eBay junk that's bad even on a beater Civic?
