Aha! The store where I reserved has one to look at ... I should definitely make a trip there soon. According to Reddit, the Seaside Store, Service Center, SuperCharger and Lounge (Monterey County, California) store manager owns this and has kindly displayed it.

According to another thread in another forum by an actual owner that hole appears to be a possible vent to help equalize trunk and cabin temperatures.Probably an access panel to get to the center brake light.
