Good question, maybe someone screwed up new descriptions or maybe they started to do AP without FSD computer. Who knows.
Or it's marketing speak. Technically, is the FSD computer a computer without the software to run it as a FSD computer? I think Autopilot uses the hardware in low grade, so they may be technically referring to it as the Autopilot computer vs. the FSD computer. Until someone takes one of the new cars apart, we won't know for sure, as I bet Tesla won't be clarifying this for us anytime soon :).

Very relevant given that a $200 monthly subscription is an option and I suspect most service appointments for a new computer upgrade (hypothetically) would be weeks out. I think it’s just an over the air update, but then saw the confusing description. Surely they did that to demonstrate the value you get with the FSD upgrade.

Or maybe they are trying to get around chip shortages this way ;) I don’t see anything about Autopilot or mention of it anymore on the order page just FSD package details. Maybe I am blind lol

Received some feedback that my order history may be of interest here.
-Ordered MYP (White/ black int. w/ tow) approx. 09/01, website said November which was the timeframe I was aiming for.
-Received VIN super quick, approx. 09/15 with delivery about 10 days later.
-Was surprised because I thought if anything it would push out. Was not ready and asked to hold.
-Order put on hold for 30 days.
-Order shows off hold approx 10/15.
-On 10/18 already receive new VIN.
-Not quite ready and also VIN is 21’, ask to hold again.
-Order is put on hold for 30 more days.
-Currently account shows on hold until 11/19.
I have a feeling HOLD orders are prioritized. That’s why I’m not releasing my hold until I see 2022 vins. Previously when I released my hold I got a vin within 2-3 weeks while regular (MYP) orders had to wait 2-3 months.

Not always, I released my hold in August when estimates were 4-6 or 5-7 weeks (so mid-late September), and my delivery date just got pushed back to mid November-early December

Can confirm OTA update. I tried it out of curiosity last week. It was available within minutes of paying the $200. I will be cancelling it before the next bill though. At this point in development it isn't much different than AP. Although I do really like the green light chime for those times I get distracted looking over at the beach.

From the latest news I can find, I agree that there's basically no chance we see 4680's/air suspension this year. If any are delivered I would imagine these would be at the very end of the year. Because of the fanfare and attention on the 4680's and since air suspension would be such a significant upgrade, I doubt those end up being "surprise" updates and will be heavily reported on leading up to eventual deliveries, starting with leaks/rumors.

The information about using the pilot plant to produce 4680's feels like a red herring. Tesla has already stated that this will eventually be a long term battery factory so the fact that it's currently able to produce the new batteries, which Tesla has theoretically been capable of for some time, likely doesn't tell us much about when to expect vehicles that have them. I also agree that Tesla will not build MY two different ways and deliver to customers, which in my mind reinforces how unlikely we see 4680 powered MY/M3 this year; unless that plant has capacity to produce batteries for all of the MY orders of the upcoming batches (or at least where they draw the line for 2022 models), they won't produce some MY that have them and some that don't.

I can't comment on how things went ahead of the minor 2021 upgrades, but I can say that they all basically addressed very common complaints at that time. I can't think of a ton of things that people still complain about, but these come to mind that could be addressed in the 2022 model year plus anything that's already been mentioned:
  • Power Frunk - feels unlikely based on the design (manual for safety reasons), but seems like a commonly desired feature. A mobile technician actually recommended I get it done by a 3rd party, fwiw
  • Ventilated seats - I could go either way on likelihood. Feels like a big deal but also is somewhat glaring "flaw" of M3/MY
  • Wheels - there's a history of updating these with model year. Just not that big of a deal to most.
  • Mudflaps/PPF bra - some 2021 deliveries had these installed (area specific).
  • Projector Headlights for LR - this one is a gimme since Tesla has already stated this is eventually coming
  • Adaptive Headlights - unlikely imo, but the tech is found in other cars and they have working modules on display (in Europe)
  • Some other possible upgrades just because it would be easy to produce: slight changes to the steering wheel, slight changes to interior finish (dashboard look/material), center console, tail lights/turning lights
