Referral bonus just increased to 5000 miles?!

I ordered on April 24 which was a couple of days before 5000 started and delivery is scheduled for June 12. Asked my Delivery Specialist and she said I should be able to get the 5000 miles. HOWEVER if it expires in 6 months then the 1000 miles is actually a better deal for me. No way would I use or need 5000 miles in 6 months. I live in a building with free charging so other than a trip I have no reason to use a SC.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but either 5000 or 1000, both expire in 6 months.

Thats the thing, unless someone does lots of road trips. Anyone who can plug in at home,
is the time and wear and tear of driving to the nearest supercharger worth it?

I live 2 miles from a supercharger surrounded by shops and restaurants. I actually could see myself solely using my free supercharging for quite a while.
I drive maybe 30 miles round trip commute.

Not sure but states this under Learn More on the 5000 and may be the same wording for the 1000. Don't remember or didn't look when it was 1000. Guess we could check Wednesday when it reverts to 1000 unless we get a different offer all together. It also states "...orders must be placed on or AFTER April 28..." I placed mine on the 24th.

The wording around expiration dates is so poorly written that nobody has been able to figure out what they were trying to say. If you get one referral it seems clear that they intend to give you 5,000 miles which must be used or forfeited within six months.

But what happens if you get a second referral three months later? Who knows. They didn’t bother to write it in a way that anyone could understand so it’s anybody’s guess how that will work. It could mean that all 10,000 miles get extended six more months. It could mean that the second set of 5,000 miles get six months. Or it could mean you don’t even get 10,000 miles but rather you just get the same 5,000 miles total but get six more months to consume them.

I think what’s most annoying about this lack of communication is that you just don’t and won’t know when your bonus miles expire.
So one day you could check and they’d all be gone, just like that.

You’d think it’d be pretty easy to just have an expiration date displayed and updated accordingly within the app (loot box)... the entire referral system structure is janky.

It's pretty clear each referral increases your balance's expiration by 6 months. So if you had 1 referral and 3 months later you get another, just add 6 months to your entire balance. You have 9 months to spend what you have.

If your balance expires then you get a referral, you have 0 + 6 months = 6 months remaining.

I have 2 referrals right now, so I have a full year to spend it.

Is the 5000 mile opportunity referral ending May 28 12:00am or May 29 12:00 am? Timezones? PST, EST.....

I have a friend who may be going to order soon and I'm not sure what to tell him how much time he has left to get in on the 5000 miles.

Is this bonus period extended?
No news about current referral program.

Here's one thought I had. The 5K 'bonus' miles (for 6months) program is likely better for Tesla than the 'old' 1K miles (3 years). They get the liability off the books sooner and, the 5X raffle entries per referral costs Tesla nothing. Most people won't be able to use those miles in six months.

But maybe the revert to the 1K miles will also be 6 months.
