Or they may have a long range variant coming out with 400 miles range and we got mossedThe only thing I can think of is that we'll get it back via software update
This has happened to me with every one I’ve boughtOr they may have a long range variant coming out with 400 miles range and we got mossed
This would be crazy for those who actually bought the Long Range Model S already. You lose the better long range badge and then they release a new more expensive version with that name. This has happened to me with every one I’ve bought
Make since, the 4680 will be the new long range version. Next yearThis would be crazy for those who actually bought the Long Range Model S already. You lose the better long range badge and then they release a new more expensive version with that name.
4680 in the X next year? Unlikely.Make since, the 4680 will be the new long range version. Next year
Yup!Sawyer says every Tesla is now a 2022 so that’s good at least.
I know they’re just EPA estimates but damn man. Really bummed to be going backwards. I don’t understand how we go from 371 (rated at least) to 348 with supposedly less weight and more efficient motors.
I’m only aware of this possibility for Model 3 LR. Know nothing about S/X. Seems like they probably won’t change too much though the carbon-sleeved rotor ones I guess maybe they have some optimization they can do. But that would apply retroactively to the recent vehicles (such an optimization wouldn’t show in increased displayed range for older vehicles, but would result in a real range increase). If I'm understanding @AlanSubie4Life correctly, the initial range numbers in recently produced cars start artificially low and there's a very high likelihood they will be manipulated to "improve" via future software updates...
Oh, I do declare! They've improved the technology! That's outrageous! This has happened to me with every one I’ve bought
I just mean that my timing has been terrible in buying right before they release a new battery capacity or dropped lower ones. Of course the technology improves but we’ve been waiting almost a year for this and it’s went backwards while the lower price Y has gone forwards.Oh, I do declare! They've improved the technology! Guess I'll have one of the very few 2021 Refresh Model Xs?Sawyer says every Tesla is now a 2022 so that’s good at least.
Why do you assume "backwards"? The battery is smaller, so it's lighter and has some potential range impact (maybe?). It's a balancing act. Perhaps Tesla has a lot of fleet data to tell them that they've hit a sweet spot for overall usage? They might have planned software changes to improve range. Who knows? Probably Tesla.I just mean that my timing has been terrible in buying right before they release a new battery capacity or dropped lower ones. But gained $15k in value! We got degradation even before we drove it once. What in the world?
Interesting! I know a lot of people were wondering about that.

Assuming that is true (which, chances are, is most likely the case), maybe they will offer it as an upgrade for the current 2022 refresh models at some stage as well? #wishfulthinkingMy guess is there will be a new long range edition with 500+ miles with 4680 batteries in near future.
nope bc Tesla does rolling improvements they don't owe anyone anything. Also going 4680 would likely require complete redesign of battery area not likely anytime soon.Assuming that is true (which, chances are, is most likely the case), maybe they will offer it as an upgrade for the current 2022 refresh models at some stage as well? #wishfulthinking
