Repairing a Flooded Tesla Model S : HOW-TO

What was the price paid?

Based upon communication with the seller, he probably paid $28k.

He might get lucky and find another moron willing to buy it for that or more...

Otherwise I'd expect it to take a few months before he gets tired of his lawn-ornament and comes back to reality.

Just a heads up for un-initiated:

$28k is more than half the cost of a CPO, even if you possess the technical skills to rebuild it (thus labor becomes $0), you will likely end up paying more than the cost of a CPO in finding parts.

If labor is not free, you're better off buying a new model S.

He paid even less than that.

My labor costs are about 1$ per hour for personal stuff. 500$ per hour for friends and family.

Now now now, don't sell yourself short. You're worth at least $5/hr, and perhaps you can join the $15/hr movement to force a raise from yourself! Don't let the haters hold you down. :)

Keep it up, glad you're learning and we can learn from your experiences.

I think your going to blow through your budget at this rate. Better demand a wage reduction from your primary contractor. Large cutbacks are needed so start negotiations at 1/10¢ per day. Your management team will probably not budge on the $500 per hour rate though

UPDATE

Met up with a two friends for a few hours last night, they don't talk much, but they love oranges for some reason... maybe we will all talk more someday...

LOL.

You should definitely forward them a link to this thread, also, as proof that the car is in good condition.

PART 2

*BTR comes back from dead*

BTR - "I am aware it has a salvage title, yes"

Agent - "its an electric car that was in a flood"

BTR - "yes, I know, its in my garage"

Agent - "the car isnt worth anything, hopefully it wasnt saltwater!"

BTR - "yes"

Agent - "electric cars and water do not mix"

BTR - *nods silently*

Agent
- "how much is a new battery pack from the dealer?"

BTR
- "haven't looked at pricing"

Agent - "my son says you can't even buy them!"

BTR - "glad the children are involved now"

Agent - "this is going to be expensive, is it even worth it?"

BTR - "can this car be insured?"

Agent - "do you even want an electric car?"

BTR - "I'd like a quote if possible"

Agent - "I really want an i3"

BTR - "how much was the amount to insure this car again?"

Agent
- "shouldn't be too bad"

BTR - "ok how much is that?"

Agent - "its the least you will spend getting this car back on the road!! I'll tell you that AHAHAHAHAHA"

BTR - "I'd like a quote if possible"

Agent - "oh, why didn't you say that, it will be 1720$ per year, if you remove one of your vehicles it will drop down to 1047$ per year"
