I just don't see them passing Tesla's network for many years and the more charging options the better, additionally, I am hoping for just a little bit more capable truck from Tesla as I do need to tow a 14k gross dump trailer for my work.

The Rivian is out of my price range.

However, it does have one thing that makes it attractive to me. The range. I have to travel 2 to 3 hours out of town one way for my job, on a regular basis. With pretty much no charging network, around here even Tesla would make that trip hard to do.

The Cybertruck is priced much lower. At the high end it has more range.

Just based on the specs, the Cybertruck seems much better. Wider and longer bed, better towing and hauling capacity. Price wise too. Tesla's top end is cheaper than the least expensive Rivian. Gotta be that Tesla is much further along the declining battery pack price slope than anyone.

Maybe starting with a clean sheet of paper paid off. Design is growing on me too.

Right now, it is vaporware vs vaporware. RIvian is expected to be selling one year before Tesla. Will Tesla’s announcement pour cold water on RIvian sales? Will RIvian make its timeline? Will Tesla? I’ll start paying attention sometime next year when some of these questions may get answers.

I agree ... but. The Cybertruck, like the equivalent F150 is not a small vehicle. You will stick out of parking spaces, and forget about narrow ones. Great for construction job sites and off roading, but not so much for shopping.

This is great news. I wonder if they will make it a huge decrease like 10k less. I think they still need to charge a decent amount so they can actually make profit to expand their business like Tesla did.

They'll have trouble competing with Tesla on price. Their battery and build cost will be much more than the Cybertruck.
