Russia/Ukraine conflict

Also in Telegraph today, an article stating Iran is sending long range missiles to Ru too beyond drones (Biden should stop dithering and get the long range mistakes to Ukr now):

“Iran has sent Russia 400 “highly accurate” ballistic missiles in an escalation of military cooperation between the two US-sanctioned nations, according to reports.

The powerful surface-to-surface missiles include many from the Fateh-110 family of short-range ballistic weapons, such as the Zolfaghar, which are capable of hitting targets 186 to 435 miles away.

The shipment began in early January, sources told Reuters,”

The figures in that article for the Russian Dictator's economy seems to have been 'provided' by the Dictator himself... Trustworthy?... Why do publications like the WaPo keep believing a pathological liar?...

Yeah, that made my eyes roll back in my head too. But at least they attributed the data to the source. Brookings lost a few credibility points by not at least qualifying that with "alleged"

7 Russian aircraft downed in the past 5 days - seems may be analogous to the Russian meat waves taking Avdiivka at all costs to present Putin with some minor achievement going into his sham election.

Suspect he keeps putting the Russian Airforce at risk so he can continue to deliver glide bombs and such munitions against Ukrainian front line soldiers and to terrorize civilians. Pilots and expensive aircraft are probably a bit more valuable to him than the numerous poor soldiers he sent to their death, but oh well...

As Ukraine continues to build its air defense and F-16s in the skies perhaps in a few months, this looks like an increasingly bad strategy for Vladimir.

I don't disagree too much with this but you asked me about the peace that Elon promised. That can only be an option if we want to negotiate.

You don't understand someone like Putin. Putin probably has an Anti-social Personality Disorder. One of the cluster B PDs.

To normal people, if they come together to negotiate they both come to the table ready to horse trade. They know there will be a back and forth and they will get something close to what they want in the end. They also know that it is the honorable thing to keep to the agreement.

For someone with a cluster B PD, they see anyone who wants to negotiate as weak and a sucker. They might negotiate, but just to buy time until they are prepared to break the deal and continue on doing what they were doing. Other people are just pawns to be manipulated.

People with cluster B PDs should never get into any position of power. They always are wanna be dictators, if not full blown dictators. And they are very dangerous to world peace if they have the ability to make their own weapons.

You can make a deal with them if they are in a position where a deal will buy them time, but they will break it as soon as they find it convenient.

Any agreement with Putin to end the war will be a repeat of the 1938 Czechoslovakia partition agreement. It may last a little longer because Russia is in worse shape now than Germany was then, but it won't last and the war will be back on as soon as Russia recovers. This will almost certainly allow Putin to stay in power and turn Russia into a super-sized North Korea.

Making peace with someone like Putin is a fool's errand. And Elon is a fool for claiming it's possible.

Biden can't do much of anything to send weapons to Ukraine without Congress approving the funding. The whole war hinges on one man who is way in over his head as Speaker of the House.

Parody of Tucker's Moscow grocery store visit.

Funny. Looks like someone who watches Perun videos. Perun sometimes uses an example of two fictional countries called Kiwiland and Emutopia which just happen to look like New Zealand and Australia.

This is the result of moving a single Patriot missile battery forward in the East. No doubt the Russians will be hunting it now, and whether it scores 7 kills, or 35, eventually the imbalance will be addressed by the Russians. They're just slow (and relentless). Some say 'mindless' but also willing to endure high losses.

I hope AFU moves that Patriot battery before those new Mach 10 SSMs come into use. And where the hell are those F-16s already? (grow a pair!) Flaming FULLBACKs is a job for AMRAAM, not just Patriot (which is best suited to area defence). Congress, you aren't sending money to Ukraine; you're sending money to RAYTHEON.

Now let's talk about the Kaliningrad corridor, and the Polish 'farm protestors'. Poland and NATO need to be ready. Putie is not deterred.

The ANZACs (Australia-New Zealand Army Corps) were the best unit of WW1. Any citizen of Australia can present at a government office in New Zealand and apply for citizenship, which is routinely granted automatically. And vice-versa for Kiwis moving to Aus. This goes back to the time of the founding 7 colonies, NZ was one of the seven, the other six being the colonies around the major Australian cities:
  1. Sydney (NSW) 1st British colony - founded at Botany Bay in 1788
  2. Melbourne (Victoria)
  3. Adelaide (S.Australia)
  4. Perth (Western Aus)
  5. Darwin (Northern Terr.)
  6. Brisbane (Queensland)
  7. Wellington (New Zealand) - whaling station founding in 1840
Advice: Don't piss off the ANZACs; your dentist will thank you... :D

The Ukrainians are probably using the same tactics they use to keep the HIMARS safe. The Russians have been hunting those in vain for over a year now.

I read something from a Kiwi on the Australian/NZ relationship. He described it much like the US-Canadian relationship. The larger partner embarrasses the smaller one on the world stage and the larger partner is brasher and louder, but at the end of the day the two cultures have a lot in common.

The book American Nations which is about the cultures (nations by the author's description) of North America and how they affect everything. He points out the bad news for Anglophone Canadians is that each of the cultures that speak English in Canada are tied to the American culture south of their border. The only culture in Canada that doesn't have strong ties to the US is French Canada, which does have a cultural tie to southern Louisiana, but the core of the culture is in Canada.

The book was recommended to me by someone here on the forum and it's a great book that explains a lot of North American history as well as the current political climate in North America.

Anyway, I knew that it was much easier for Kiwis to get Australian citizenship now (I believe a new law went into effect last year), but I was unaware it went the other way too.

You are missing Tasmania, which was a penal colony of the original penal colony, and I think was about 3.5 on the list.

Should IMO be obligatory to watch for everyone in power in the Democratic West.
