Did Elon just say 500.000 cars per year?!? More LiIon demand than the whole world production as of today. LOL.

NUMMI used to make this many cars a year, and that is the plant's capacity and has been Tesla's target for Gen 3 all along. He mentioned the thing about world li-ion demand a few months back too.

Elon just mentioned gulf states, South Africa, South America specifically. I don't think there has ever been a mention of those markets? Long term obviously, but thats good to know.
 
At least DB asked the US demand drop and got that US demand is still high and needed to stop it to deliver to EU because people had been waiting. Now what I don't like is Elon mentioning many times that they'd rather not expand demand unless they can meet it, this can be taken the wrong way.

Good News that I got from the report:
-"suppliers are also ramping up their capacity to meet our productions targets"
-Panasonic battery agreement for 1.8 Billion cells over 4 years is the minimum, so there could be much more and the contract is subject to change in the upwards direction
-21% gross margin excluding ZEV credits (up from 14%)
-Cash Balance increased to $796 Million (up 49 Million) despite capital expenditures
-West coast covered with superchargers
-Q3 revenues were 603 Million, with 10 Million from ZEV credits and 19 million from GHG/CAFE credits. (this means an Average selling price for each car was $104.3K, up from 93.3K)
-Projected 6000 deliveries in Q4, increaseing guidance to 21,500 vehicles for the year
-Positive Cash flow in Q3
-Assets increased to $2,166,209 from $1,887,844


Bad News:
-They 'lost money' in this quarter depending on how you look at it but they still had positive cash flow.
-R&D will go up 25% in Q4 and SG&A will go up 20% in Q4
 
Holy crap. He just said we can sustain 20,000 cars/year in US and do the same in Euro WITHOUT ASIA. Does this mean he just, in a roundabout way, guided 40,000+ cars for 2014 not even including Asia next year, assuming production/battery constraints are handled?
 
We're not quite ready yet to make a major announcement on a gigafactory, but we are looking at this and think we would be ready to announce something like doing a gigafactory with partners. That factory would most likely be in north america, looking elsewhere too. This is massive as Elon saying we're not ready to announce this major thing yet is basically confirming they do plan it ;)

Meaning - if they can't get the batteries to satisfy increased demand, there is no point lengthening the waiting lines for Tesla cars.

Speaking of which, the comment he just made to Andrea James seems to indicate they are looking into building their own battery factory - cool!
