Exactly..................a 'service center' that can repair the cars it sells. That was the 'Tesla shortfall' the Gov of Texas was describing:

“Texas has a very robust, very open, very effective automobile sector that seems like it’s working quite well the way that it is,” the Republican told Bloomberg Radio on Tuesday. “If you’re going to have a breakdown in a car, you need to have a car dealership there to make sure that the vehicle is going to be taken care of. We haven’t seen that from Tesla.”

Should Tesla create a 'hybrid service center' in this location, they could meet the requirements without extensively deviating from their national model.............both sides save face and doors are open to Tesla. It would still be a service center, but could fulfill the basic support duties of a dealership................without all the inefficiencies that go with it. There is an angle to this. You can feel it.

We actually have a store like that in Ontario. It use to be a Lamborghini dealership. Now it is a Tesla store and service center. Both in one building since it is a big building. Is that the type of hybrid model you are referring to?

Yes. Thank you for sharing that. Is there any real difference besides behind-the-scenes lobbying power that the Ontario combined facility would be different than a typical U.S. dealership in your opinion? Much appreciated.

IMO, no difference other than being nicer. On one side you have the showroom cars and sales advisors. On the other side is where the repairs/warranty work is done.
Since this location is very big, it is also where new buyers pick up their cars and get the walk-through introduction to their new car.

Houston's new Supercharger (you might have heard about it) is a Gallery complete with the demo skeleton Skateboard and Supercharger and a Design Center.

This Gallery is also a posh Delivery Center with double-wide garage doors, two opposing walls each boasting a working NEMA 14-50 and a HPWC (I trust they have rotated the 14-50s 180 degrees since I pointed out the ground plug oughta be on top). Five (five!) Delivery Specialist desks round it out.

This Delivery Center is also a Service Center with a smart auto-Tesla-sensing garage door opening to a driveway that'll line up half a dozen incoming Models S, with its own indoors 2-station Supercharger, and with 6 roto Lifts and room to expand to 14, wow 14 lifts but I might have heard 16.

This Service Center is also a six-stall public Supercharger with the US's second 24-hour customer lounge. You might have heard of it. "Hey Abbott" apparently hasn't heard of it.

Holy crap, you are almost making me want to drive to Houston.

Wow. Went over to the Texas section and looked at the pics. That place looks amazing.

Cincinnati Ohio was the first concept one and it blew me away when they had the open house. Everything you need including vending machine, bathroom and television while you wait during your charge or service experience.

Tesla keeps upping the gave in every instance.

Analysts: Global Market For Tesla Model S, X 3 Is Approximately 19 Million

We've discussed this, but it is nice to see someone put a number on the size of Tesla's addressable market.

19 million seems like a nice low bar estimate. My estimate is more alone the lines of 50-100 million. I think analysts are forgetting that many (tens of millions) of people in the world would gladly trade in a gasoline vehicle for the Model 3. Therefore, the global market would be the percent of people who are in the market for a new vehicle that costs more than $20,000 + the number of people in the world who are looking to trade in their gasoline vehicle for an electric vehicle.
