Yup. I have been laughing due to the hysteria. Yes, I see red in my account and some in my eyes from the tears. But this past weekend there have been many reports of Model X deliveries. In addition, I personally know somebody who has a later Sig vehicle and it's absolutely flawless. The body shop that wrapped it in X-PEL even said so.
You also have to realize Tesla manufacturing just went absolutely HAM. With the removal of the 85kWh and RWD-- everything just got more streamlined and they are preparing to do some huge ramp.

Old enough to read charts and understand what this casino is all about. It's not about Tesla my friend. If this market enters a real bear, there is absolutely no way Tesla will get the financing it needs to carry on. Its MACRO and has nothing to do with the color of Bonnie's Sig X or Elon's avatar or all the nonsense that is spewed on this forum.

While I think your comment is full of it, what's the point of repeating it over and over? It's a done deal. Wringing hands over something that's already happened and can't be changed is the biggest waste of energy on the planet. If you think it'll doom the company then bet accordingly and be done with it.

As someone who has lost a lot of money in the markets, I want to suggest to those that are hurting to take a deep breath. It probably feels like hell and you are looking for any sign of hope. Just relax as best you can, don't panic sell or trade, close-out the super risky bets and be patient with a stable position.
You can make aluminium durable enough with high enough tolerances. I think Ferrari makes engines cylinder banks out of it. You can also make sensors and motors that is durable and seals with a great fit. So the doors will come together.
We also don't know how problematic they really were. Model X was launched too early and any Model would have some of the problems we currently are seeing with X. So the ramp is not primarly delayed because of unexpected problems, it is delayed because they launched it at an earlier stage than is normal. The delay up to August 2015 was to a large degree because S did so well.
Thank goodness somebody gets it. Hence my point about being sunk cost. That and once you experience it, you'll get it. My friend with the car is a parent and said those doors are a godsend with his 2 child car seats.

Tesla doesn't announce when they start building. So you have no idea whether they have multiple other sites under construction or not. Please stop saying this without proof.

They said they didn't need the X to get to the 3. The 3 is still on track with timelines they gave like 2 years ago (2017 release). These issues have not slowed down the Model S, and if anything has forced them to push the boundaries a bit sooner than they would have liked on the demand limits of the S. So other than shareprice fluff, why does it matter? If this ends up causing a storm on the SUV/CUV market where everyone *has* to have the X, then it will pay out in dividends in the end.
You think the Model S sells so well just because it is an EV? if that were true, then why is it selling better in the US and CA specifically over and above any other EV including those that are 75% cheaper. CA is the epitome of EV friendly. No, people buy the MS because it is a truly awesome car to own and drive. It initially sold well based on performance and the awesome touchscreen/dash area. It has continued to sell well because of adding in features like AWD and Autonomous driving features that can only be currently had from one other manufacturer, Mercedes.
The FWD's are the next step in that process. If initial buyer feedback is to be believed, they are just as functional as claimed to be, and just as cool as claimed to be. This is pop-out door handles x1000. And yes, I remember everyone giving Tesla a ton of trouble over the center console, the pop-out door handles (heck people still give Tesla crap for that), and the giant pano roof. The FWDs are just the next step of that, where people like you are going to cry about it until it wins them tons of awards, and becomes the defining thing that people are flocking to the car over.
I remember talking with people about how they wouldn't buy the MS, because they couldn't understand why they wasted all this effort on door handles and a giant touchscreen when all they wanted was some cup holders, storage space, and lighted vanity mirrors. Gee, why couldn't Tesla just do that instead? And I laugh at this because for every 1 person we lost a sale to over these trivial things, we gained 3 sales over the totally awesome things that Tesla was given crap for putting in their car.
I would assume that it would be like when they had to ship with the wrong seats as they went to the next gen... only with less volume. If the problem has already been resolved *and* they have stopped the line and restarted it, then one would assume that they now have the new parts so maybe ~500-1000 model X total would need to get that part swapped? Given that we are also only dealing with a limited release area (By and far, CA) this should be relatively easy to fix as they can get people scheduled to come in.

Guys, you can safely buy now, I just took out some puts (mostly for protection into the ER), and generally when I do this, they become worthless because I have terrible timing on my puts... Haha! I mean, I bought them at like 151 and we are already up 3$ and some change since doing that, so you can thank me later... sigh... can never win with these things...
