SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Ordered SR+, blue, aero, black interior on 5/29. Finished all the required steps on the account by 5/30 including accepting the financing via Testa (I got 3.69% from Chase so didn't bother trying to shop around). Still no VIN on the page or in source code.
Called Tesla and they said that they should have a VIN by next week and delivery in the 3rd week of June :(
Would have liked if they stuck to the 2 weeks they show during ordering (and still shows on my "manage" page!). Just too excited waiting for the car. Hopefully it's worth the wait and it doesn't get too close to the tax credit deadline.

I'm in exactly the same situation only 1 day later. Wow, when I ordered on 5/31 I thought making the June 30 deadline would be a layup especially with all of the noise about lack of demand. Yeah, right! Based on what you just posted, I'm now concerned that I'm going to be cutting it very close. I was told last Friday that if I don't hear from anyone by this Friday I should call back. So I'm going to call today at my lunch hour. I chose the lease option and then thought about it and decided I'd rather go with a purchase. But I'm afraid to make any changes to my order online because it might cause a delay.

I’m going to admit that I’m a bit lazy and do not want to scroll through 80 pages of post so sorry if this has been asked.

What the sequence of purchasing and financing through Tesla?

On 6/2, we went for a test drive at the Burbank location and made the reservation/order with their associate right after. We decided to go with SR+. We are looking to do a Trade-In with payoff. Our online account has been under “pending” for Trade-In since Sunday. I’ve called the Burbank location to get an update but they keep directing us to the person who assisted us but he is currently out of town an have not responded to our inquiries.

We reached out to the lender of our current car and they said no one has reached out to them regarding a payoff.

What comes first? VIN or the Trade-In/Loan Processing?

Thanks in advance.

It's my understanding that the VIN comes first, as trade-in and loan stuff can be time sensitive.

So in my case, I had already gone to the website of the lease on the car that I was trading in and got a payoff quote. I then went to Tesla's website and entered the trade in information probably back on 5/15. They gave me a trade in quote right away and said I could save it. Two weeks later I ordered my Tesla and they just let me use the already quoted trade in. So I got the trade in quote immediately but I have not received a VIN number yet.

I ordered a SR+ on 6/1. On 6/1 they said on the phone 1-2 weeks. Calling back today, it was we should be able to get it to you by the end of the June.

Hi all! I'm going to join you anxiously awaiting our new babies! I ordered my SR+ on June 5. Completed the online "paperwork" June 6 and got an email from a Delivery Experience Specialist shortly after so I'm just waiting reading up in the forum while I wait to see if my delivery date will make the June 30 cut off to get the $3750 rebate.

We asked for a trade-in value and heard back almost right away so I don't know why yours still says pending. Did you get a quote and accept it and now it's pending? We decided not to accept ours, but there wasn't an option to click on for that. LOL I just told the Delivery Experience Specialist and he said he'd take it off.

DA says BlackStar is in Tennessee. 11 hours away. My estimation is arriving tomorrow or Sunday.

After sending my reply to DA, I received this email message from Tesla:

Your Model 3 will soon receive new software that matches the Model 3 Standard Range configuration you ordered. As we communicated in April, this includes a limited range of 220 miles, and the removal of several software features. To continue experiencing the extended range, faster acceleration and Autopilot features of Model 3 Standard Range Plus, schedule a service appointment through your Tesla app.

Your car will be software-limited in the next 10 days to match your original configuration.

That's it for now.

VIN Came first, my trade in was finalized a few days before. Keep in mind they will honor Carmax quotes for your trade, which got me an extra grand

Dude the guy (morningstar) ordered the day after me and received an email from a delivery specialist the next day. So not clear of your post and what you are getting at.

I think morningstar was a rare exception. Check the pinned spreadsheet to see what kind of turnaround time most people are getting. i for example ordered and completed paperwork last Friday and have not had any communication except an acknowledgement today that I had successfully changed my lease to a purchase.

Right I get that, which is why I originally stated it was interesting he got an email and I didnt. Thats all, and then someone makes a post as if I was out of line and crazy.

I never said I should have gotten an email already, just stated it was interesting they did.
