I read that this may be the case for cars shipped to Canada. It's been speculated that the weight of the car compared to previous years is more in line with the weight of the cars released in China with the new battery.Does anyone know if the new SR+ are shipping with the new batteries that supposedly you can charge to 100% daily no problem? Or am I imagining this.
That’s unlikely IMO.I read that this may be the case for cars shipped to Canada. It's been speculated that the weight of the car compared to previous years is more in line with the weight of the cars released in China with the new battery.
Fortunately this will be my 3rd EV (first was a Chevy spark EV, then a Bolt EV, and then a Tesla when it gets delivered)... so I will know how to drive it.Does anyone else have that hidden feeling that when they do finally get their Tesla they are not going to know how to drive it?
when did you need to purchase the insurance? and what will be the data on the insurance? For example, if the delivery date is 8 weeks from now, do I need to pay for the insurance now, for an air/cloud car? This is a screen shot of the insurance part on my account. I live in a state that requires the Tesla VIN before I can upload.

I was planning on getting insurance on the same day that I schedule my delivery (or as close as I can).I swore I read somewhere it’s 4-6 days prior to delivery… I thought this was on our profile, I’m also in a state that requires a VIN
Some states (like MD) let you drive up to 2 weeks in your new car on without officially adding it to your policy. Though I personally usually add it the day of pickup because I don't really want to test the "grace period" in real life.I was planning on getting insurance on the same day that I schedule my delivery (or as close as I can).
I’m sure the grace period would suck terriblySome states (like MD) let you drive up to 2 weeks in your new car on without officially adding it to your policy. Though I personally usually add it the day of pickup because I don't really want to test the "grace period" in real life.
There's some form the dealerships make you sign that says "You agree to insure this vehicle" or something along those lines. When I bought our Honda Pilot, the salesman was like "Yeah, just add the car to your policy whenever in the next 10 days and you're good".It sounds like the insurance requirements are something that Tesla's lawyers came up with to protect themselves against some legal exposure related to how they sell cars. I've bought plenty of cars in the past (all in states that Tesla says "require" the VIN to be on your insurance), and dealerships only require that you be insured, not that you have that specific car's VIN on your insurance before you drive off the lot. In most cases, you don't even see the VIN until you get the car and then you are just generally expected to add that to your insurance fairly soon after (and usually not by the dealership since it's not their problem any more).
That is how I have always done it. Got the car, added it to the insurance afterwards.... but it appears that Tesla is anything but normal. It sounds like the insurance requirements are something that Tesla's lawyers came up with to protect themselves against some legal exposure related to how they sell cars. It's the 25th...... No VINs.I have seen a FB post from VA where at least one M3 in MSM was being delivered today so they are happening. We are about a handful on this forum against the 180 000+ MY/3 being delivered this quarter.
From South TX (Corpus Christi) ordered on March 31st and have June 7-27th. I've never had it move passed the 30th either. Pick up is in SA.Ordered May 1st here in Texas, page finally loaded and again it shows June 13th-30th delivery... it has flipped back and forth over the past couple of weeks, but never beyond June 30th

Like the ides of March in Julius Cesar... Ay, but the day has not gone! Kidding. I have no idea when it will happen, but I suspect some computer at Tesla is going to run a batch job and match thousands of cars with buyers one of these days. It's the 25th...... No VINs.
