Supercharger - Bossier City, LA

I wouldn't worry too much about that. The coming Henderson, Texas Supercharger location doesn't appear on Tesla's website, either, even though it appears all components are in place and it's just a matter of turning power on and commissioning the site. It could be that these sites are between "coming soon" and "online" and there's no status flag for this state.

As of this post, the Henderson, TX location is now showing up on the app and in the vehicle (went live yesterday evening), but not Tesla's website.

I see that the Bossier City, LA is back on the website as "Target Opening in Q3 2023". I'd guess it won't be "long" now. :)

Dig ticket for duct for Tesla.

looks like underground electrical work based on the route map.

My grandparents used to take me to Hamel's Amusement Park when I was a child and we'd often eat at Piccadilly Cafeteria. As an adult, I've been to some of the casinos, bars, and clubs around Shreveport. About a decade ago, I used to enjoy visiting The Boardwalk on the weekend to shop and eat at Cheesecake Bistro. I hadn't been in years until last year. I was sad that Cheesecake Bistro was long gone and half the stores were empty. Very depressing! I haven't been back. I might take a trip there some weekend to visit Piccadilly for the nostalgia.

I took a trip to Piccadilly last weekend - it was the first time I had dined at a Piccadilly since I was a kid. Disappointingly, they didn't have chicken fried chicken or chicken fried steak, but they still had liver and onions! I had hamburger steak which was pretty good. The mac & cheese, cornbread, and chocolate pie tasted exactly like I remember them tasting decades ago. The background music was 70s hits and the place definitely felt like a time capsule. The floor, walls, and fixtures in the restroom were literally rotting away.

I used the Superchargers in Shreveport for the first time. 6/8 stalls were in use around noon on Saturday. I got 130+ kW and charged from 15% to 50% in 14 minutes.

I intended to drive by the Bossier City Superchargers to check on their progress, but after being depressed by what I saw at The Boardwalk, I headed back home. I remember a time not too many years ago when all four levels of the parking garage were occupied. Saturday afternoon, there were about a dozen cars on the first level, almost none on the second and third levels, and the fourth level was still closed off. I used to always park on the roof and enjoy the view.

So much of the Shreveport/Bossier City area is in bad shape. :(

I live within a few miles of the Bossier City Superchargers and drive by them almost daily. Nothing new to report. There looked to be some directional drilling a couple weeks ago, but nothing further has been done. There's a hole in the ground along the back (eastern) side of the pavement. At least I assume it's a hole - it's marked off with some engineering tape. It's in the area where the #9 is in the dig photo posted above. The wiring is still on a large spool near the chargers. Meters have not been installed. This is the first time I've seen a Supercharger go up, so not real sure of the sequence of things, but there has been very little activity going on there for the last couple months. Rain all day today, so I'm sure nothing new was done.

It's been about a year since I've been to Picadilly - I actually thought someone told me they had closed. I also noticed the lack of maintenance last time I was there. I'm not sure why the malls are dwindling in Shreveport/Bossier; they seem to do well elsewhere.

The boardwalk is indeed in bad shape. It was booming several years ago but almost all stores have moved out now. There is a revised attempt at revitalization. A large church (Simple Church) is leasing part of it and moving services there starting early next year. Hopefully, that will help with weekend traffic. Also a few businesses are supposed to be going in - a piano bar comes to mind. I can't remember what else.

I drove by and looked a little closer yesterday / today. Referencing the dig map posted above, here's what I found: The location marked 13 is a large green box (transformer?) which seems to serve the whole building - I didn't see another one. The ground in front of that box has been dug up and there is a large (6-8" diameter) conduit sticking out of it. This conduit runs underground and comes out at the location marked 8. This is, apparently, the dig work that was done a few weeks ago. Nothing else seems to be going on at the moment. I've attached a couple photos of the area near the chargers. The wood framing in the photo corresponds to the location marked 1.

Some (hopeful) thoughts... The southernmost section of the Target building is apparently vacant. There is a separate (unused / blocked off) entrance near the location where the chargers have been installed - you can see the canopy in the overhead photo. The rumor was that Target would eventually become a Super Target and then utilize that space. It's been 16 years since they've opened and that hasn't happened. What are the chances TESLA could be putting a service center in at this location? Anyone have any insight or sources?

13 is the main power tie in as evidenced by the transformer for the building. 8 is where the transformer will go and there will be more conduit from 8 to 1 to get to the switchgear cabinet. If it isn’t ready there.

Drove by again today. Still no new work being done. I noticed something I'm curious about, though. One of the chargers has a cable with an extra bit of rubber around the plug end of the cord - see photo. None of the others had this. It is not a magic dock - strictly NACS.

Was this on the handicap stall by chance? I saw this at my local SuC as well (handicap stall).

As of dec 8 2023
It looks completed no gates around charges but no actual power…I tried and I live in Bossier City…I asked Target if they had any update and they said No. hopefully it’ll be a live soon. It would be very helpful for all of us that live on this side of the river….Shreveport charger is about 20min away…obviously most of us charge at home but the convenience for trips and such is going to be amazin!

I wonder if this location will be 29¢/kWh like the Shreveport location? I was surprised that Shreveport is "only" 29¢ compared to 36¢ in Texas.

The Henderson, TX location that just opened about six weeks ago is currently down. Another member mentioned that Tesla has been updating V3 Superchargers causing them to go offline for a few days.

It's been almost two months since any work at all has been done at this site. Surely that can't be normal.

I've been thinking about this location. During the day, it's a good enough place. Target, Ulta, Old Navy, Best Buy are nearby so there is shopping and restrooms. There's a Starbucks and a Pizza Hut in the Target. A couple other places to eat with a bit more of a walk. But these are all open only during the day. There will be no facilities at all after 9 or 10 pm. I'm thankful to someday have a SC nearby in case it's needed for a last minute trip out of town. It just seems there might have been better places with 24/7 services for those traveling through. Also, I'm still hoping they turn that unused part of the building into a service center. :)

There’s a lot of sites that don’t have 24/7 amenities. Like, most sites don’t have 24/7 amenities.
