Supercharger - Johnson City, TX

Strange to me that if you compare supercharge.info and Supercharger | Tesla that a lot of these superchargers under construction dont show up on the Tesla side or are in a different location than where the permit has been pulled. Theres also some that are on their map (Fredericksburg for instance) that dont show up on supercharge.info at all.

There are plenty of Supercharger sites that are being driven from the host site side (e.g. in my area Sheetz, Smithfields, Wawa) that is wanting to be proactive in getting in on the charging game versus the Tesla site showing the ones that Tesla is specifically targeting to fill gaps and it's the Tesla team that is going out and seeking hosts. The former just show up as a surprise one day, while the latter are the ones on the official Tesla map.

The reason the location is different is that the Tesla map simply puts the pin in the "official" city location (usually near the city center; or wherever whatever mapping site you use will show you if you just type in the city name without an address) until the site is actually open. So yes, for coming soon sites on the Tesla map, the location is never accurate.

Today. Not open as expected, but looks mostly cleaned up

It looks very close to ready today. I can see some cables are not connected but the transformer is on site and everything looks mostly buttoned-up. It's on the northbound side of the highway. There's a subway very close by.

This is great, they must have put a rush on this one. It's also an outstanding opportunity for someone to put in a Whataburger, McDonalds, or something else to serve this supercharger. Aside from the brewery downtown, theres not a whole lot else in Johnson City.
