I scouted the entire parking lot in Yreka on Saturday and didn't find any signs of construction. Same deal for Redding. Wish I would have known about Lakehead as I would have stopped there too.
Disappointing. Starting my 50 state trip mid April (well first 2 anyway - Oregon and Washington). Just as a warm up. After this will do the 46 in late May and into June. Anyway, was hoping to touch Yreka. Not a necessity - but I kinda like that town and will probably spend the first night there. Don't really need the SpC, but would have been easier for the next morning during breakfast. Then again, Yreka may appear by mid April (doubtful).

Just left Yreka. Did not see anything I believe to be Tesla related anywhere in the parking lots of pretty much that entire exit. Only dirt being moved anywhere near the area is right off the gas station.

The address on the permit is 1808 Fort Jones Road. The address of the Valero station is 1802 so that dirt moving is for a supercharger. And fits with the comment about it being the north end of that center.

Could be. My only hesitation is that the ingress/egress is really bad right there. You can not access it currently from the hotel parking lot, just the main gas station entry.

It could be where the equipment pad will go and then the parking spots will where your blue dot (where you took pictures from) is. One of the Fairfield superchargers is in a hotel parking lot. Or the whole thing will be in the corner and you will access from the gas station. There are many supercharger locations behind buildings in shopping centers or on the top floor of parking garages so easy access is not always the first priority.

True. I’ve been to most in central/northern Cali. Just seems like they had room here for a better spot if this is it. Can’t be choosers tho! I did not see any signs of a supercharger in lakehead

I stopped by again, still not sure what’s in progress here. Here is the corner by the gas station I snapped last month, still don’t think this is Tesla related.

Now for the more curious part. There is more construction Now happening in the same parking lot, but it looks like it was to add a wheelchair zig zag ramp. There are however new parking curbs being laid out. This looks more Tesla related than the gas station but I realize now my pics are not great.

Edit: may be the ramp was already there, see attached satellite image. Could this be the start of our charger?

The tire barriers at the end of the parking spaces in the photographs look identical to the barriers at most Supercharger locations (same dark color with yellow strips).

Agreed, that’s what’s stood out the most. Not sure they place curbs before anything else tho lol

No, that looks like they are going to build a cement block building or enclosure of some sort. But it's too big for a supercharger and they would definitely have done the underground electrical conduit before pouring the slab. So, I think it's safe to say that that bit of work is definitely out of consideration.

The work in the other portion of the lot looks like it will be it. In addition to the tire stops which look identical to the usual ones used at superchargers, there's also a precast ground-mounted transformer slab of the type they often use. And the one close up picture of the work area looked like it showed an electrical vault in the ground already. So, I would say that is looking pretty likely to be the supercharger location. Next time you're in the area, some pictures really showing the work area would be helpful in determining it definitively.

The guys were busy so I didn’t try to ask any questions. Hopefully some of the experts can tell what we are looking at here. They’re digging a trench today which seems promising!

I’m not convinced the parking bumpers are supercharger related though. It’s an odd number for a supercharger, like 17 or 18. And there are a few other parts of the parking lot that have the same parking bumpers. Some of them are even old and damaged from use.

Just realized the concrete square in picture #5 is likely the lid for the concrete box in picture #2. If you look closely, you can see that it is labeled "PADVAULT PAD."

@mociaf9 you're supposed to tell us what's going on here :)
