I finally convinced her--we're taking the S . Plan is to charge at the UVA garage tonight. I'll drop by the Glen Allen site on my way home on Sunday and try to plug in. At the very least I'll give you guys an update on the status of the Supercharger!

Apparently they had left the power on last night and I could have been the first customer Model S to charge there at the first charger next to the brick structure. Unfortunately, I didn't know. Now my Model S is on its way to Rockville for a minor service issue, but at least I have a Roadster loaner. :smile:

It is likely that all chargers would be operational by tonight. Of course, things could still happen.

Yup. Terrific fun and totally different experience from the Model S.

Just pulled up to the Supercharger in Glen Allen 5mins ago. Looks usable but that section of parking lot is blocked off. Bummer.

Is the really loud fan noise while charging normal?

Yeah, there is an incredible amount of heat generated by that equipment (13kW was the calculated amount, I believe), so it's got a hefty fan on there

That's interesting that they are keeping it blocked off like that. I've monitored the progress of a good half dozen SC site constructions and I don't recall them doing that before. Perhaps it's a local contractor habit. Oh well, Thursday then!
