From the article 'Tesla founder Elon Musk won't be making it to native shores for the launch'
Well, now!!! That IS disappointing!! I was looking forward to greeting an old countryman!........

Is that a Sig Red because it looks gorgeous in those Autumn colours. :)
Indeed, since i have one on order but have not seen the colour, is this a sig red??

In the article they mentioned that the Melbourne showroom was going to be in Richmond. I hadn't seen that before. I wonder when it's going to open. I'll be in Melbourne for our annual Christmas to Australia day trip to the in-laws, and I'd love to stop by if it opens.

I would be surprised if this was open by then. However, there are at least 2 demo cars in Melbourne and it would be easy for you to book a test drive for your in-laws. They have been based at the Marriott Hotel, corner Exhibition & Lonsdale Streets. Bookings can be made http://www.teslamotors.com/en_AU/models/drive

Any problems and I am sure that one of us can make contact with the local Tesla people if you would like us to.

Cheers
Higgy

Sadly I can pretty much confirm that. Due to a stuffup at Japan launch I was also going to Australia launch (where I had Sig #10), and HQ implied fairly strongly a bit over month back that I may be disappointed that Elon wouldn't be there personally. FWIW although it was nice to finally see Elon in person in Japan, due to the number of the people there and the very short time he made himself available, the experience was rather underwhelming and honestly wouldn't have been much different if he was holographically projected onto the stage (actually, that may have even been more exciting if done well...)

So, I feel sorry for you guys who may have been hoping for him to make an appearance downunder, but wishing you all a great launch party and now you can focus on what this is really all about - an amazing car and the great experience of meeting other owners and fans.

In the meantime, sending you some Model S love from the autumn streets of Japan.View attachment 64745

Thanks for the gorgeous photo - this looks like it is identical to the car I have on order including the wheels so I am delighted to see that it looks so good.

Any chance of a front/side view?

Cheers
Higgy.

Hey Higgy, good choice on the spec

I don't have a front view photo that I like quite as much, but this one is not too bad... Light is not quite right but hopefully it helps give you an idea of how it looks from the front.

Interesting - although I'd really rather see one in Goulbourn/Taree. I guess that it'll be useful for people dropping cars in for service but less useful for actually travelling anywhere.

it'll be like why every nissian leaf dealership has a chargepoint, requirement of service that you leave with a full battery. it's also the easiest to do they already lease/own the land. so no landlord negotiations.

I have got a quote from MB Insurance Group who specialise in prestige motor vehicles. They have quoted a total premium of $2,802.10 with a $2,000 excess.

Any better quotes available in W.A.?

Hi Frank, check out the Model-S-Insurance-in-Australia thread - it seems RACWA give very competitive rates.

P.S. since you've only posted a handful of times your posts end up in moderation, which is why your three submissions came through at the same time.
I believe that restriction will be lifted after only a couple more posts from you. It's a small price to pay for the complete lack of SPAM on this forum.

I am also a fan for a Goulburn SC (in town off the highway) and have told Tesla that, but the Artarmon location conveniently solves my problem of how to charge the car during upcoming landscaping, when I would not be able to approach our house charger. I am about 10 minutes away. It may also be good for those who live nearby in apartments.
