Hence Tesla's push to transfer the FUSC from older Teslas to new cars--it no longer an "in perpetuity" feature and has no value when the car is sold. Grrrrr.

It disappears/disappeared when you buy the new car with free supercharging. You don't get to keep free charging on both cars. Nothing stopping you from keeping the old one, there was no mandatory trade in stipulated.

Moot now anyway since the promo is over, until the next one.

Dang, I missed this promo. I’ve been thinking about replacing my 2018 M3 with a new MY. Would have done it in 2023 if I got the email.

Could this be a quarterly thing or are most promos offered to boost fiscal year sales?

Your 3 might not have *transferable* free supercharging for life. That is what Tesla wants to get off the road.

You did not have to have FUSC01 for the past promotion. FUSC05 was also eligible for transfer. That’s how you the past promo wasn’t just about getting rid of transferable free supercharging, they allowed non-transferable supercharging to be transferred. it was a demand lever.

Don’t think any M3 back in the day came with SC05. Could be wrong; have a 2018 MS that came with it.

Terms include: "Your new vehicle on order does not have a price adjustment".

So it sounds like no inventory vehicles, which will clearly be significantly discounted as the quarter grinds on... you have to pay full price.

Seems like a short-term attempt to improve vehicle margins in exchange for some long-term obligations. Not surprising after this week's earnings call...

Don't have to get lucky, it's permitted this time. Yesterday we took delivery of a new Y from inventory. We combined a $3500 inventory discount with the transfers of both FUSC & FSD. At the time of delivery the new Y already showed that it has both. The old 2016 S90D immediately switched to "pay per use supercharging" in the app, but FSD Beta did not immediately get removed. The terms of the transfer say that we'll loose FSD Beta from our old S soon. The new Y immediately went to a local shop for PPF & tint so we won't have it for about a week.
