Would you be able to make a version that has the new roof line in your amended version but bring back the sloped tail? I think it might look ok.

All hail the rhombus.
Assuming they are selecting the current form for good reason (e.g. structural/aerodynamics/manufacturing), they could at least use panes of dark glass to give the sides a more traditional shape, despite not being one. I like a quick sketch of this better (below). Further improvement IMO would be steepening the windshield somewhat and then adding a few feet of flat roof before the long backslope.

Stock fall is obviously not surprising. People though tesla was going for a 500k+ a year model and yet they went niche with as polarizing a design as possible.

people mostly hate the design, it’s become a meme joke and is hurting the brand.

Couldn't agree more. Right when Tesla begins to really make a dent into the mainstream buyers, it goes and pulls this stunt. Most people see it more as a wannabe Delorean, from 1985, instead of a "futuristic" truck as it was touted. There honestly is nothing futuristic about this truck. It seems like another of Elon's projects that 90% of everyone that worked on it begged him not to do - just like with the falcon wing doors.

They honestly need to quickly come out with something similar, but much more aesthetically pleasing and say "this an alternative we designed and built - what do you think?"

That change detracts from the aerodynamics and also doesn't allow the cover to slide properly.

"Will be an option to add solar power that generates 15 miles per day, possibly more. Would love this to be self-powered. Adding fold out solar wings would generate 30 to 40 miles per day. Avg miles per day in US is 30." - Elon
This is going to be awesome for camping & RVing. And the zombie apocalypse.

Has anyone tried to estimate battery costs from these specs?

As has been noted in various comments, this goes to the heart of Tesla's mission and business.

Offering a 500+ mile [whatever the standard] pickup for roughly 70K USD in say two years is amazing.

The absolute lower bound for battery capacity has to be 150 kWh, as compared to the Model X LR, the vehicle
- has a larger frontal area and worse aero
- has a higher rolling resistance

Just a brief reminder that today's stock action will reflect manipulators' amplification of any downturns as much as it reflects sentiment about the truck's design.
In other words: nice buying opportunity in the next 10 days before outstanding Q4 comes in focus. Like other said many times before (for reasons that I actually don’t fully understand), not advice
