Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Several months ago I wrote a post which garnered most negative response from this forum. I would like to reiterate what I said in that post:

"IF, and IF Tesla starts to use LIDAR or whatever technology, then I think it actually showed the strength of Tesla instead of anything otherwise"

People thought I was wasting everybody's time discussing a case that is way past conclusion.

I am not so familiar with the technical detail of the pro and con of Lidar. But just like a complicated system as space launch, to tackle such a hard problem as FSD, we should not have such a fixation again LIDAR in such an early stage of the whole scheme just because Elon said "absolute no LIDAR even if it is free" at one time.

My point is, IF, IF Elon later realizes that LIDAR has value and either test (as indicated here) or adopt LIDAR to certain degree. then I view it as his strength. I don't feel like Tesla betrays me if they decide to use that technology to augment their existing system. Everybody's knowledge needs enhancement, and the changes in approach should follow. Elon made the decision to go electrical and he changed the world, but he also said Covid 19 would be gone by April 2020. So why fixation again LIDAR, IF it proves to be useful?

Now, of course it could also be true that he will make FSD a reality just by vision, which I will be happy and would like to see ASAP, we will all be happy.

Andrej Karpathy literally disclosed in an interview months ago that they used LIDAR rigs to validate their vision only approach. That this LIDAR thing is news and generating huge swings in market cap for the providing company shows just how clueless the market is sometimes.

Benzinga - 8 minutes ago: Stock for College Grads

Excerpt:

Benzinga spoke with Justin Larson, a high net worth specialist at Fidelity Investments who recommended, “anything out there that has changed the landscape for that sector like Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) or Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL)” as something that might be enticing to a young individual and provide them benefits in the long run.
I just opened my 14 year old a brokerage account and bought him 2 shares of COIN.

With Radar removal, Tesla just essentially announced their next gen vision system is awesome and market doesn't move. It will take months for the market to realize the significance.

Processing of this information more quickly is the real inside information that allows retail investors to make a lot of money.
Also: no radar to install, and higher prices means higher margins. The best part is no part.

I'm gonna roll the dice and wait to buy additional bull spreads in late August. Volatility will abound, but we end the summer below $650 IMO. Even with any good news, summer volume will be low enough for MM's to absorb.

We are however going to $1200+ before 1 year from now. I'm gonna time it just right! <-- laughs at self

Not only that, but a 7-8kw gasoline generator with 240v output can be purchased for under $900, and it can power your house and charge your car at the same time.
Note that Ford F-150 Electric Pickup May Get Newly Patented Range Extender in Its Bed mentions the F150 electric could get an optional gas motor range extender. IMHO that could potentially also power the home through the same V2H hookup, and its one differentiator of Ford vs Tesla that they do not shy away from adding a gasoline part to their EVs.

But what if Tesla did something similar for the cybertruck, with hydrogen fool cells?

Tesla officially removed radar features for M3/Y on their config pages. As Elon mentioned, if your two eyes can do it, NN can do it too, sooner or later. Looks like it's getting there sooner than later. As Elon mentioned, progress in Vision AI has accelerated a lot. I see also on Tesmanian now.
Sorry if a repost, can't keep up with all past posts.
OT Wish I had Vision AI for SP future ; )

Alot of the 'news' and articles on Tesla (TSLA) are old or recycled. May be the market is very sharp, and whomever releases 'new news' on any equity can then make the appropriate trade on its presumed impact. The actual article itself is immaterial. TSLA provides the trading ground as it has been shown to be highly reactive.

Ongoing YOY growth from capex and demand continues for TSLA, and unlike other momo stocks, they make a durable good with software, so product cycles are longer than online advertising and app/data tracking social media companies.

I fully expect him to be correct. Eventually.

For example, in 2033, when Tesla will have declining annualized sales down to 24M from 24.5M, well, expect a correction to say the least.

Of course, that will be because of the cars in transit to Mars which will not count until they actually arrive and the paperwork is signed. But you are going to have to give it up to him at that point.

Who said timing is everything, anyway?

I fully expect him to be correct regarding "regulatory credits going away" -- as soon as the major incumbent ICE makers either gone bankrupt or switched to 100% EV production, whether that takes a decade or more is TBD.

Agree $1200 is possible, but the current upper resistance of the wedge we are now trading in is still above $650 and plenty of time to get there TSLA-style. This wedge formation closes around July 1st. There will be a big move (20% or more) when we break out IMO. And it might not happen until Q2 deliveries, etc are well understood at the end of June. But in the meantime I sure wouldn’t bet against a fast ride up to the descending 6 month trend line above 650 before it retraces. In my 9 years of trading TSLA I have seen a lot of money made trading in the wedges. This one became pretty clear at 570 ish - and I would bet there there is a lot of big money looking for a $100 point ride from that 1-year support to the top of the descending wedge

I hope you realize that in reality, between 2010 and 2020, the volume during the summer months was only less about 50% of the time. The notion that there’s guarantees to be lower volume and worse performance in stocks is kind of a myth.....mostly because traders and Wall St have easy ability to invest and trade from any location they want nowadays with complete ease. That wasn’t the case in the 80’s/90’s

If Tesla does decide to do another stock split at or after the annual shareholders meeting like what they did last year, you’d miss out
