Strike notice against Tesla's garbage disposal​

The LO Transport union puts in a strike notice against Tesla's garbage disposal. This means that no garbage and waste will be collected from Tesla's eleven service facilities around the country.

The announcement is made in sympathy with the conflict where IF Metall is demanding a collective agreement with the American electric car giant.

The new notification comes into effect on the night before Christmas Eve.

So now the union is threathing action against any company that is working with Tesla to circumvent the blockade:

Transport organizes most of the people who work with waste management according to Tommy Wreeth, although some are members of Kommunal. Transport writes in its press release that "employers who try to circumvent the blockade will be subject to extensive industrial action after notice". This is for the blockade to have an effect.

It depends on how big the stoppage is... Is it just a transport problem? Just bring in trucks from outside of the country. Is it that the waste depots won't accept waste from Tesla? (Would they have to ship their waste out of country?)

They are trying tactics that have worked in the past, and may not work against Tesla.

You have to admit how, for an outfit like IF Metall whose sole purpose appears to be to create an environment where members avoid work as a matter of purpose, the union must be putting in overtime while working way, way outside their tightly constructed mental box in order to develop strategies to bend Tesla to their will.

It is sad and even a little pathetic that they must go so far against their own principles of doing the least amount of work for the most benefit, which are what is on the line here, in order to bring the fight to such a worthy opponent.

Whether this has any possibility of leading to a paradigm shift for such a deeply union-entrenched culture remains to be seen. We can hope.

Just hire a foreign crew to haul it from the Tesla sites and leave it at IF Metall's HQ. Problem solved!

According to IF Metall, the 130 service technicians, or all the 289 employees who work at Tesla's Swedish subsidiary TM Sweden AB?
How difficult will it be to find out how many are actually on strike!? When neither party comes out with hard numbers, we have to go straight to the source.
We at Tesla Club Sweden have over six thousand members who own a Tesla. Unfortunately, sometimes some of them happen to have something break down on their cars and they have to visit a repair shop. We have asked our members to ask the service technicians they meet then how many of their colleagues are on strike at that particular facility? Data collection at the grassroots level. We have compiled the results.
Tesla now has ten workshops in Sweden. This is how many are on strike at each location:

This corroborates what we've heard from others in Sweden, that about a dozen actual Tesla employees are on strike.

Anyone who thinks this immense effort is about 13 employees is kidding themselves. This is obviously a power play by IF Metall to get Tesla Sweden as a whole unionized, and the union doesn't care how many people or businesses it has to hurt to achieve this goal. It's ludicrous how far this has gone for such petty stakes, purely egotistical.

If there is no reason for the workers in Tesla factories to seek the UAW, the UAW won’t stand a chance in hell.

The workers at Tesla have already voted, on two separate occasions if I recall correctly, and they voted no for a union.

Perhaps, for context, we could have Tesla community members see if they might be able to provide a count of how many IT Metall union members are no longer working or have reduced hours, across several nations, in sympathy for the 13 Tesla Sweden employees' suffrage under their overbearing employer.

I think you just contradicted yourself there. I'll agree with your first statement: it's about power. They correctly see Tesla as a future huge source of power and influence, and of course, a union pension contributer that has huge growth potential.
There may be ego involved, but money and power are pretty believable explanations for their actions thus far. Those, and the no-escape cycle of escalation we see.

This isn't about getting Tesla Sweden unionized, it is about giving IF Metall justification for exercising their power and influence. Tesla Sweden signing a collective agreement will demonstrate their power. Tesla is the big fish.

The collective agreement itself is meaningless for a number of reasons which have already been revealed.

When IF Metall says "JUMP" they want businesses asking "HOW HIGH?" That is what this is all about. Otherwise they would have gone after a business which was actually violating their rules, rather than taking on a squeaky clean, high profile target to make an example of.
