So, what is everyone's theory? I don't care about the battery capacity number, 60,70,90, 100, I'm just talking about declaring it a "Model 3" like they have "Model S".

Is it stupid to buy an aftermarket "Model 3" emblem?

    Thoughts?

I think pretty clear it's in line with the ultra-minimalism of the rest of the car. Which I don't agree with, but that's another story. In the future they should have more customization such as this, and many other details.

Badges? Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges!

Cost savings? Make people guess whether or not the owner shelled out for LR? Maybe Elon will finally get rights for Model E?

so should the S owners rip off their badge then? It's just inconsistent and I like things uniform. S and X have them, so I think I will buy the aftermarket emblem.

I like the de-badged look. Worst is when people add a P to their car model.

Manufacturing efficiency. It takes time to put the badges on. Every little bit counts.

Probably just to save a little bit of time and money. I would have taken it off anyhow.

yeah, I've seen that and it's $40...plus I don't think it stands out as well as an emblem would.

"Don't you look at that car... if you don't know what it is, you don't deserve to know." :D

I almost want to remove the badges from my X... It's so noticable anyway, and when it gets hot, some of the little pieces of metal (badges, like the 1 and 0's...) get wobbly, being stuck back on to the wrap when it was done last fall...

But seriously, it was probably one more cost-cutting measure, and they may have thought it was distinctive enough on its own.

Because symmetry is beauty, and badges are a pain in the ass to clean around anyway. Saved me a few minutes of removing the danged thing.
