This Tesla hit-piece could use some fact checking

http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2015/08/09/18775962.php they get many things wrong like the fact that Tesla recommends dosing fires with water, they claim that'll make it worse. Thoughts? I came across it as I have a Tesla alert on my news reader.

Well, that "news" site (someone's glorified blog?) appears to be full of far left-wing rants, by volunteer writers on various topics, so it's not completely surprising that they'd post a fact-challenged article on Tesla.

I thought this quote was rather amusing and telling of the motives of the author:
Was the, notoriously, hackable Tesla suddenly taken over by Chinese hackers, who had found his car IP address on the internet? That is another question that has yet to be resolved.

Oh is that how hacking works? "Chinese" hackers just do a search for Tesla car IP addresses on the Internet and cause them to swerve off canyon roads? If I can't absolutely prove that didn't happen, does that make it "unresolved"? This is some hard-hitting investigative journalism here!

Just goes to show that if you go far enough to the fringes of the left *OR* right, you'll find enemies of just about anything (or possibly just folks who are willing to write anything for attention...)

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't such a piece full of so much false information be something Tesla could sue them for? I mean come on... Wow...

As a left winger these are the kind of "left wingers" that embarrass me.

There's always someone who are complete idiots.

The (NSFW?) blob of nonsense (based on actual events?) on the page you posted reads like it was intended to be fan fiction/porn for shorts

What's more interesting is that this piece appears to have been syndicated against a number of "independent" conspiracy-type rags. A quick Google search shows that author "Susan Johnlo" appears not to exist outside of the attributions on this particular article:

    Talk about conspiracies... ;-)

Looks like the article was removed from the site. I'll paste it here before it disappears from google cache. I generally would consider this a copyright violation, but this seems to be such a blatant shill that I think we need to keep it for the record if it gets reposted somewhere else under a different pseudonym.

That is the most imaginative description of a Model S accident, undoubtedly based on zero factual information, that I have ever read.

In order to bring back some balance to our universe, I guess one could post an article on how they went to the moon and back using their Model S. I'm sure that would be a hit.

Thanks for posting. Quite possibly taken down out of sheer embarrassment.

    Where to start?
"The sun glistened off the sleek futuristic body of the six figure Tesla sports car as it careened around the next curve of the beautiful Malibu coastal highway."There is no "Malibu coastal highway, although Pacific Coast Highway runs along the coast past Malibu. But the accident happened on Malibu Canyon Road.

"Below, the Pacific Ocean spread out to the horizon in an endless carpet of blue…" But the ocean is not visible from any part of Malibu Canyon Road.

    "
Nickleback was blaring from the speakers of the car, the driver’s hair was tossed in the wind, his popped collar was flapping in the high speed rush of air and his Ray Bans barely hid his I-own-the-world feeling of delight in the moment." All completely unknowable details made up by the author.

    "
Was the, notoriously, hackable Tesla suddenly taken over by Chinese hackers…" Possibly the least hackable car on the road.

"The resulting fire, in the Canyon, is unstoppable and threatens the entire community of homes." According to the CHP, "The burning vehicle ignited a fire that spread to three acres of brush on the canyon hillside before it was controlled"

    "…
they can’t recognize a body. The driver has been burned into an unrecognizable lump of melted plastic, molten metal and human flesh. From the LA Daily News, "Despite the severity of the fiery crash, a coroner’s investigator was able to get some good prints in an examination of Devine’s remains"

    Etc. etc. etc.

I just realized the section I highlighted almost looks like a decent poem when put together, after a few minor tweaks

The sun glistened, sleek futuristic careened curve of the beautiful Malibu coastal highway.

    Spread out,
endless carpet of blue, undulating and sparkling wonder.

Nickleback, the driver’s hair was tossed in the wind.

    Popped
collar, the high speed rush feeling of delight in the moment.

Then the gates of hell opened.
