You really should read the Motor Trend review. But given it's just a software mode, there's nothing stopping them from making them for all P models...
But given it's just a software mode, there's nothing stopping them from making them for all P models...
I did read the article. What I mean is they need to create custom software for each of them. I'm not implying they port the model 3 changes to the models S and X. It's still just software. You really should read the Motor Trend review.
"It's just a software mode. Why doesn't the iPhone feature ___ work on my Xbox?"
That seems rather obvious... but that doesn't change the fact that a track mode could be made for the others as well. The difference would be the S could only run about 3 laps before overheating (depending on track length). That still doesn't preclude a track mode that could be used for short periods.Motors and cooling systems are not the same.
But given it's just a software mode, there's nothing stopping them from making them for all P models...
I wouldn't write off the possibility. Elon is always adamant that the S is the top performance model still.

I agree it won't be a useful track vehicle with its overheating issues, but that again doesn't preclude a mode that allows you to drive it track style for short periods.I don't see it. The present design (cooling) of the S doesn't allow it to be done in such a way as top make it a useful track vehicle. I see it with the next version.

It's my perception that Tesla is more likely to work on fun ideas than problems that still need solving.True. But if you have limited human resources to throw at these problems, you wouldn't spend them on the development of a semi-functional mode on a design that's reaching end-of-life.
Two laps to set a record time. The S can do that. The present design (cooling) of the S doesn't allow it to be done in such a way as top make it a useful track vehicle.
Other than that pesky mission statement of theirs......It's my perception that Tesla is more likely to work on fun ideas than problems that still need solving.
Indeed and one must know when one quotes one who is being sarcastic. I hate when it doesn't come across in text.Other than that pesky mission statement of theirs......
