Tracking P85D delivery thread

That's probably because their policy has been not to set delivery dates on cars until they're on the truck. That started up after the delays from the factory closure. I think a lot of Delivery Specialists played a bit loose on this policy. I'd bet with the P85D delays, that policy is now being strictly followed.

TMy DS (Andrew in Illinois) told me in email this morning, "As soon as we are ready to have it loaded on a carrier and shipped to our service center, we will be able to nail down a precise date together."

That is word for word verbatim to what I was told.

Same here in Chicago but different DS. No date of delivery and no date of shipment. Been in production since the 24th so I would think I must be close to the end of testing.

Hello, I'm VIN 66083 P85D due late december in Cleveland OH. Had to tell my DS that I am out of country 12/28-1/4 in case it impacts delivery. Here is his estimate for me.
"We will do everything possible to get your Model S to you before 12/28. I appreciate your patience.
I expect your car to move into manufacturing sometime early next week. I will send you updates as it moves through production."
Hope that helps some of ya'll.

So, I was thinking. Originally, my car was scheduled for 12/5 delivery. Then it went to "In Production" on the 21st.

That's the original time frame given, assuming no issues, of 2 weeks from "In Production" to delivery.

Now, if my car actually went into production say, today... two weeks is the 24th...

That said, if I had to guess, I'd say I won't get the car until after Christmas, but possibly before the new year, assuming they actually began production and are following through.

That still doesn't guarantee it, especially this time of year. We got ours November last year and the truck got delayed 2 days because of a snow storm they ran into in the Rockies, then followed it across the U.S.

Mine's been "In Production" since 12/1 (and still showing that status). My Chicago DS told me he would let me know when it is scheduled to ship but was unwilling commit to delivery date because he did not know how it would get routed by logistics. I've noticed there are some Chicago cars showing (on the spreadsheet attached to his thread) a Dec 17 Delivery Date. I'm curious if any of those have been confirmed and still planned or whether those delivery dates were entered before the production delays occurred.

I'm a 'the estimated date of the 17th is still possible however I am still unable to confirm an exact date until the vehicle moves into transit'. Been in production since the 24th going to Chicago. So no, not a confirmed scheduled pickup.

Just talked to my DS, who had a call with the factory this morning. He is projecting a delivery 12/27-12/30 for my P85D to Seattle. For those you keeping track to handicap your own delivery, I went into production on 11/25. I didn't push him on why because this forum and Jerome's email has already provided the reasons.
If you are getting projected of 12/30 in Seattle, that's pretty bad news for anyone wanting 2014 delivery on east coast

Just spoke with my DS - she also confirmed the new seat/airbag issue as the reason for delays, but based on what else she said, I'm a bit skeptical that any of our deliveries are happening for another couple of weeks, (at least).

I went into production 11/21 and am picking up in Fremont, so logically you'd think I'd have a pretty early delivery relative to most that are on the spreadsheet. BUT she said they are HOPING/TRYING to have mine done before the END OF DECEMBER. So that's a bummer, and perhaps doesn't bode well for anyone else hoping for an early Christmas present (and maybe even anyone who was planning to claim that federal rebate for 2014...).

I would guess a lot of us get are going to get pushed into January (despite the negative effects that will have on Tesla's Q4 revenue numbers).

But I'm pessimist by nature, so hopefully Tesla will come through and pleasantly surprise me - I can't wait for SOMEONE here to finally take delivery!

Just got a call from the DS. My car's still in the inspection stage and is being tested thoroughly (his words). No dice on a delivery this weekend. Leaves just a week before my personal drop-dead date of 12/21 for 2014 delivery. DS still thought that delivery next week is highly likely.

Fwiw, asked about the heated steering wheel :) - he hadn't heard of it but, said that he'll dig deeper and let me know.

If there's been a log jam of cars at the factory and mods are required before releasing them, then it makes sense to me that east coast cars need to get on cross country trucks fairly soon. Up to a week for cross country trip and then delivery center prep time for the cars to be ready for customer delivery. My two cents. That being said, in a perfect world, I respect that cars should be delivered in the order they were ordered by customers.

That's scary. Mine also entered production on 11/21 and Jerome's email made it seem like an "any day now" situation.

Like 95% of P85D orders reported on here including myself, you ordered the next-gen seats. Since these are apparently experiencing issues and henceforth delays, I am not surprised that delivery specialists are being given very conservative guidance as to when deliveries will take place.

That being said, I'm still surprised your DS is being so overly conservative/pessimistic given your car entered production on the first day reported here (and you're local) - so technically you should get some of the first Recaro seat fixes/replacements.

I'll keep you all posted on the progress of my delivery date with non-Recaro seats (still don't know what they assembled on mine, LOL...)
