Trade in offer on my 2021 Model Y Lower than I expected

Just got the trade in offer from Tesla on my 2021 Model Y with 18,600 miles and I absolutely babied it. The offer was 29,200. Brand new tires and always hand washed only. Is this offer in line with what others are getting at this time? It seems crazy low to me. Oh well, I will have to sell private party now as I upgrade to a 2023 Model Y.

Maybe they're lowballing because of the issues over the last year where prices rose and dealers are NOW sitting on cars they paid more than they can possibly sell them for.

For whatever it's worth, dealers and wholesalers absolutely don't care if the car was babied and hand washed. They mostly don't care about service records, aftermarket parts, or replacement items like new tires...at least not enough to significantly affect the price. I specifically traded to a dealer because they don't care about these things, and make the process as quick/simple as possible (even if that comes at a cost). They'll focus on the year, mileage, and going market rate above all else.

You'll never get top dollar unless you go individual private sale (and even then, it's hit or miss these days). You'll also probably need to invest more time and effort into private sales, so keep in mind the value of your time as well.

A simple check on KBB would show your value is much higher. Tesla doesn’t have used car lots so they have little interest in buying used cars that they simply send to auction. Just use a different Used buyer site.

Easy to list and you can place a reserve price with an auction or just have a Buy it now price.
I sell cars for other people that are not able to do it themselves. I've sold over 60 cars on ebay.

Problem with eBay is you get trolls who over bid and then say they don’t want it.

With interest rates the way they are on used cars it’s not a surprise people want to pay less for used.

Before you list it for sale at least check with other online retailers (carvana,carmax,vroom &shift). If they are also that low then you can make your decision from there. $21,000 seems way low even for Tesla considering we just bought a 2021 MYLR from them for $48k

True, but with a buy it now listing, you can require a $500 deposit before a bid is accepted.
