I actually wouldn't be surprised if Elon made another ambitious announcement of them starting Model 3 production even earlier, like they pulled 500k a year figure from 2020 to 2018. This is because comptetitors have actually done a lot since Model 3 unveil and here I am about to order a brand new 41kWh Renault ZOE to keep me going until late 2018 (date I'll get my Model 3 earliesy being in Turkey)

That being said, 2017 Fall is ambitious as it is. Plus Elon said they wouldn't need cap increase in even Q1 and we know they haven't got tooling yet. Hmmm, can't take this anywhere. Really excited to see the hopefully redesigned front though.

OR Elon will pull a Panenka on all of us and 'do the obvious thing' which is AP 2.0 and he will just go 'I meant AP 2 being included in Model 3' and that's all we'll hear of Model 3. That way S/X demand might be spiked again along with the 100D release, cash flowing in, avoiding cap raise thru Q1. Makes sense?

When he tweeted:

"This is also what I was alluding to by Model 3 part 2"

We all expect there will be Model ≡ part 2 sooner or later. The product is expected but the timing has been unknown.

So, is it something about Model ≡ ONLY for this announcement or is it ALSO an additional sidekick for a main product announcement that is not expected?

It occurs to me that Musk has really bad timing. A product announcement just before a Presidential debate, which all the world's media will be focusing on?

You mean people are still interested in hearing a Presidential debate about an expected issue "grab 'em by the p@@@y" rather than an unexpected product announcement from Tesla?

I'm certain that anything they announce (autopilot 2/telsa glass) for the 3 would come to the S/X first. This is why these things have not been announced already. Tesla doesn't want S/X orders to delay because they know features are coming soon.
