Updates on Spotify?

Has anyone heard or know if anything regarding Spotify and Tesla for the US? Trying to decide between Spotify and Apple Music. This would be nice to know.

Is Spotify available in Canadian Teslas with v. 8.1? We only just ordered our MX, so I cannot yet see for myself.

I haven't looked and can when I go out later but I kind of doubt it's there is we haven't heard anything about it yet. Just would be nice to know if I should buy into spotify or apple music. First world issues... I know...

I stream Spotify from my iPhone and it works well. Tesla does need to get the app added though. Honestly, why isn't it?

I want Spotify as well, but they put that in Europe only since Slacker was not available there, they must have signed an exclusive with Slacker for X years, sadly.

I was really hoping for Spotify in 8.1. For now Slacker will do - it's not bad but far from great.

No @xspace Canada and US do not have Spotify at this time.

Big drag. Spotify is already integrated into my Yamaha RX-A3040 HT Receiver, Echo, Echo Dots, etc. I guess I can at least stream from my phone over BT, but it's a shame the upgraded audio system won't receive as high fidelity a source. Could audio transfer from phone to car as a docked device, in which case it is hard wired into the car's AV system? Or, is the lightning connector just implemented a USB charging connection (no AV)?

Thanks! That at least confirms my question below. Not ideal, but better than nothing. I'm guessing that actual integration is coming.

All the protocols involved in getting wired audio from a smartphone's charging connector to a head-end unit are licensed, proprietary, and in some cases DRM'ed.

It involves a costly certification program and getting updates on either side certified / signed-off by the other side.
