Did you have VT running polling constantly or did you have it go to sleep on a regular basis (e.g. at night)?

I used to have VT run all the time for my Model S, but I setup a sleep schedule at night, so it would only poll every half hour or so. That would minimize the constant API queries (during the day it was every 4 min).

Now I have TeslaFi polling every minute for my Model 3, even at night (though it doesn’t wake the car up if it’s asleep, it just polls vehicle status), but I haven’t had any connectivity issues.
VT was running constantly. Since TeslaFi isn't causing any problems I am going to think my issue was coincidental. I will keep VT offline for a few more days, then bring it back up and see if the problem returns.

This project hasn't been maintained for several years. The original author has requested someone take over maintenance for it, but so far nobody has stepped up. I looked at the code base a while back and, while i was able to make some minor modifications, it appears that, in its current state, it will be difficult to maintain. I am not knocking the original developer; my guess is that this started as a personal pet project with features added in over time, using whatever technologies were current at the moment. As a result the code base isn't terribly well structured and not particularly modular, making it difficult to adopt to other platforms.
So is this dead? I cannot log in - I'm sure I'm using my user ID/email address and correct password.

No it still works fine. There is no reason why the existing software, as old as it is, shouldn't continue to operate.

I would double-check your connectivity. The "check your email address" error appears to be a catch-all error any time login fails, including not being able to connect to tesla's servers.

There was a change made to the Tesla servers years ago that broke the login process. Stories about it may or may not be captured in this thread - I don't remember. But the gist of it was that your account would work on the old servers but would suddenly stop working when transferred to the new servers. All of that eventually went away and I think most people either got it working again or gave up trying. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that it may or may not work and have nothing to do what what you are doing on your end. And to answer your question, yes it is the same password for the mobile app and for Tesla.com. Just for kicks, you might try logging out and back in on the mobile app. That might have some effect of letting Tesla know that it really is you and that you know your password.

Thanks, I didn't make it through all 130 pages, I saw something that said the DB would update. Guess not. The newest version did it.

Hopefully the HVAC preconditioning settings work - still can't believe that's not automatically included.

Thank you both.

Yeap, the HVAC preconditioning is one of its most useful feature that still works!

I suspect Tesla may be enforcing API throttling again. From what I remember throttling was occurring in the 2015 time period but I haven't heard any complaints since.

My story:

For the last few months, I have had terrible app connectivity. I have tried from multiple devices, with the car both on 3g and WiFi, power saving and always connected on/off (all permutations). Sometimes it takes up to ten minutes to finally connect after multiple retries.

I have been running Visible Tesla 24/7 for the past few years. I had to shut it down yesterday to do some maintenance on my VM. Out of curiosity I decided to check my app and it has been responding normally since I shut VT down.

I will continue to monitor.
I’m new to Tesla. I am loving the spaceship so far- S 100D. Is there a place to look up all staff f the acronyms on this forum? Also had a message on my dash screen about blind spot cameras not working properly. Did software update last night- hopefully this fixed issue. Any advice?

Welcome to the family. This is a thread about third party software to let us view our vehicles and I suspect you might be lost.

I'd suggest posting in the teslamotors subreddit or the Model S general forum here about any general queries you have.

I just downloaded the latest for MacOS. I'm running Mojave (10.14.6) and just downloaded the latest Oracle Java. I installed into the Applications folder. When I try to run the app, it quits almost immediately.

Doesn't seem to run on MAC at all. Just quits and I see that its a Java Runtime error of some sorts. Seems the Java they bundled with it no longer works. Oh well. Might try a Windows version but would prefer MAC.

Note quite dead, but very close. See my post above with a dropbox link. That is the Windows version with a fix so that it works on high DPI monitors. But VisibleTesla has gotten a bit worse in the past few months. It used to render my Model S correctly but not the Model 3, but now it no longer correctly renders the Model S either. It is still good though for monitoring charging, some car controls, and some scheduling features.
