Can someone please explain 'battery day'
It's a presentation on Sept 22nd to discuss current and future developments in Teslas battery plans (and possibly some other stuff)
and when it is going to be built into new cars? What makes this battery so innovative?
Answering those questions is the point of the event.
Keep in mind Tesla doesn't use the same battery in all models today- and that will probably still be true on battery day.
So some models (and maybe even specific trims of some models) will likely get new batteries before others, and there may continue to be significant differences in batteries between trims and models.
We still do not have a vin#, and could wait til this battery revelation happens. Will the cost of the car increase?
That depends.
One expectation is Tesla will announce a new higher-end Model S using the very best new battery tech, at a significantly higher price (Elon has essentially said as much a few times).
That's not going into the 3 anytime soon though.
The goal of the mass market cars is to make them
cheaper not more expensive.
Will M3's get the new battery? When?
Thanks
Eventually sure. Soon? Probably not the "best" new one.
We know Panasonic already moved to a slightly (~5%) improved battery this month at GF Nevada so they'll probably at least get THAT pretty much immediately.
if you don't even have a VIN yet, don't worry about it.
You'll have a lot more info next Tuesday and can go from there.
