Was this home delivery or center delivery? If center delivery, I am surprised your delivery agent even presented that car to you. If HOME delivery, I am not surprised, as they have subcontracted that out so are not tesla employees, and are just trying to push cars out.

I suspect home delivery during "regular times" (not end of year numbers times), would likely be ok, but the delivery centers have detailers, and some parts as well. It sounds to me like home delivery where the agent had more to do, so just wanted to "turn and burn" so to speak.

I agree with you that if this was home delivery I would understand better, but nope and nothing was offered other than taking it now and mobile team will call me or assigning me a new VIN. No other options were offered, and they were offered in a very attitude and threatening manner.

Thats horrible... Not the car issue because that stuff happens. The people issue. No excuse for not trying to help you, or offering to fix it. My experience was the exact opposite, but this is a people issue not necessarily a "tesla" as a company issue.

I definitely would ask for a different delivery specialist. I also might have talked to the manager while I was there and politely let them know how confused I was that they wanted me to reject the car rather than buff the scratches out, or try to help me get into another vehicle right then.

Yeah I agree. And to be honest I didn't even think of asking for a manager to talk to. It didn't even come to my mind because I felt somewhat betrayed a little TBH. I've been praising how Tesla was amazing and showing all my friends and family about the car I was getting on Saturday and then I felt I was treated like trash can.... I felt disappointed and betrayed... I've put deposit since April 2016 and this is the treatment I get ....Anyways I was quite depressed

Looks like they are still having issues delivering cars in good shape. I don't know about there but around here most of the employees appeared to be new hires, some of which were probably working at a grocery store or Starbucks the week prior. They want to appear nice and excited but when your the 5th person that day that had problems with their car and was upset about being shown a B rate product (as you rightfully should be) well those bad moods sure are contagious.... Which is why it's best to not get angry, killem with kindness if you will. Disappointed, sure, but my advice is to convince them that you are the person they want to help. "I want to take this car, but you see I need to know how extensive the damages are before making such a large decision". At least make that your first shot. This is coming from someone who did eventually have to ask for a buyback to get the last issues straightened out. But I did ask for the buyback in a nice way (I think). It was something like, "I see, well, since you can't fix the issue on the due bill how do I go about requesting a buyback or lemon buy back, what is the process and how does it affect my tax credit?"

To put it another way, ask nicely but be sure to make it clear your intentions and that you want a good car as soon as possible. "What happens if I take this and they can't fix the paint?"

Of course around here I can just come back tomorrow or when convenient, we don't have any of that cold white stuff on the ground to make unnecessary trips less convenient or more of a hassle.

But my general thought is that if it's not up to your standards don't take it, especially if you don't have a pressing reason to accept it. I don't wish anyone to have to have gone through what I did to get a model 3. I would have ended up with a nicer and cheaper car if I would have just held out for about another week.

Thanks for the hints and tips.
I was told by my wife and my cousin that they were shocked how nice I was lol, they were expecting me to flip a switch...
I think I really wanted the car but my internal self knew I would have regretted that move. So I was really apologetic and told her why I couldn't accept the car like this. The conversation ended there and she told me to wait for someone to call me to know the next steps. It's been 1 business days so far and no calls no emails lol

Wish you the best! The best car I've test driven tbh, I loved it!
test drive? what's that? lol i haven't even sat in one. thanks for the good wishes, when i got the classic (CPO) last year there were a lot of threads about bad deliveries and i got a nearly perfect car. and that was before they stopped "refurbing" them.

if our M3 has small paint issues, i'll take delivery to get the credit, but make them notate and fix the issues. the credit is the only reason we bought now, we were going to hold off for a short range rwd but said fuggit.

if the car is trashed then yeah, i'll reject it as well and make them find me something by 12/31. but i'm thinking positive. :D

Add another to the reject pile. So so so disappointing. I could write a novel with the things I want to say. I took delivery but ended up returning the car before the 24 hours was up. Probably would’ve kept it and worked with them on the car’s issues if someone had just called or written back in time. No one should feel like they’re getting punched in the gut for 24 hours on a brand new $60k car. Tesla needs to work on their QC or die. And Tesla can not die. They MUST succeed. So I hope beyond hope they can get their act together before the tax incentive disappears and all the fanboys get their 3’s. Bad news travels fast, the general public will learn of our troubles sooner or later. Anyone on the fence will run from 90’s Kia quality at $40k-$50k.

I feel for you, sorry you had to go through this. I was hoping that I was the only one and that I was unlucky

So the saga continues....

The first weekend I got my model 3 back I took it down to the tint shop to be tinted. The shop found a long but very light scratch on the rear passenger side window glass. They told me it would become more obvious once they applied tint to it. They said they deal with allot of these and I am not the first and that tesla is pretty good about replacing glass when this happens. It's very light and difficult to see with non tinted glass so I'm not surprised I missed it.

So I scheduled a service appointment right away. Service Centers being booked up and all, and due to the holidays, I brought it in today. They said since it is not on the due bill they cannot replace the glass and it is on me. They suggested I contact my delivery manager to see if they would add it to the due bill (but I originally picked up the car in october!)

There's not really any way I could have scratched the glass, it's not like glass is an easy thing to scratch, especially form the inside, in the same motion the windows goes up and down!

I'll try to get a picture. I took a couple and it's so fain't it's not showing up. It's easier to feel with your fingernail. Normally I wouldn't really care since it's not noticeable but since it will show more prominently after tint I would like to have it fixed.

Just another thing for you all to look out for when you pickup your teslas!

Service center said if I fail to get it added to the due bill, they will send it to a body shop to be polished and they think polishing the glass might fix it since it is not terribly deep. So at least there is hope. But I do wonder what a rear window would cost me :(

So the saga continues....

Do you need bright sun to see the light scratch or can you see it in flat light ? It's foggy in the morning and cloudy the rest of the day here and for whatever reason, I have problem seeing defects in those conditions.

I washed my car for the first time about 2 weeks ago on the first sunny day since delivery (took delivery on 12/5/18). While drying the car, I discovered more paint defects - the worst being a large sand particle embedded in the paint on the roof rail and white splotches on the rocker panel. I emailed my Delivery Advisor (or whatever they are called) and he forwarded my concerns to to Norcal concerns and they added the additional defects to my "Due Bill". I stated my delivery occurred outside on a rainy day and it was impossible to catch all the defects under those conditions.

I hope you get everything resolved to your satisfaction !

It's much easier to see under certain lighting (I can see it with under LED lights at night, or in medium sunlight), I brought an LED flashlight with me to the delivery center. It's not like the car was even clean when they delivered it, so much hard to see small defects. It's light enough I wouldn't care, except that the tint shop told me it might become much more apparent once tinted. I still have paint nibs that are under my clear-coat and some fisheyes, but I'm over it. I don't want to spend $1500 on tint for scratched windows though.

Yeah - I agree with you. The only reason I had them add it, was my appointment for the other paint defects isn't until February 18th. Since they are correcting other panels, I figured might as well have them add the new ones. If I didn't have the other defects, I would have just lived with them.

For sure! Get everything fixed while you can. Otherwise it's harder to do later like what I am going through. I know I didn't scratch the window, especially since no one had ridden back there except like once and I don't think I even really rolled the windows up or down except maybe once.

They did fix a rattle in the trunk I noticed after having the trunk re-aligned. Turned out to be a broken clip rattling around back there. I hear something rolling around now that the rattle is gone. Sounds like something rolling around in the rear door. Whatever it is, it rolls around every-time I hit the throttle... Super annoying. They also ordered some TSB for the tin sounding rear floor while I was at the service center, because, why not?

The scratch likely happened when a piece of sand got lodged between the window seal and the inside of the glass, then someone rolled the window down. It really doesn't take much to scratch glass, especially if a material hard enough rides up against it.

Maybe sand isn't something you normally get exposed to, but with your signature I'm not sure of that. Could be something that happened after delivery if so. Sucks to have another issue man.

I literally took it in for tint days after I got the car back (no desert trips involved), I don't think there would be any sand that could have done that, plus it would be much more likely for a scratch to be outside the window rather than on the inside of a clean car. Nah I just didn't see it because it's hard to see. I swear I heard someone at the service center kind of laughing I brought it in for such a light scratch, but they probably didn't hear the part about it likely showing up more after tint... For as long as I have been going to the dunes I have yet to scratch a window with sand, even after sand storms like we had last weekend. Even that same truck has been going out there for 13 years! Not saying it can't happen but this is not from that. I don't think I had even intentionally rolled the window down at that point. Maybe once just to check all the buttons were working.

So I'm definitely hearing a rattle from the rear passenger door panel. Sounds like something rolling around every time I step on the gas. I guess that's the downside to having such a quiet car! My Guess is that the body shop had the door panel off when they repainted the door. This is likely also when the scratch occurred, but when I picked up the car I wasn't looking for faint window scratches I was looking at the paint! I don't have any kids or anyone riding in the back so this seems the most probable.
