What does Model S look like on thermal camera?

1. What does a Model S, without the heat of an ICE, look like on these cameras?
2. When will the first Model S thermal camera chase occur? 10/2016? 12/2016? 3/2017?

Also, WOW these cameras are neat. Where can I get one?!

Check out Flir Star SAFIRE 380-HD... last time I checked the helicopter mounted ones were running north of half a million a pop... ($750k is closer)... but my data is dated!

I have a flir camera, not the 750k model though. I will take some video/photos when I get home compared to my friends ICE car. I have looked before and its actually quite interesting!

I think there would be some heat in the front w/the radiators infront of the front wheels.

and something in front of the rear driver tire, where the water drips out from the A/C...?

We use thermal cameras at work a lot. Although they do see engine heat, the main thing you see is temperature difference between objects. Regardless of a Model S having a vastly reduced heat production, it will still look very similar on a thermal camera due to the variation between cars surface and the surrounding environment. Because this I don't see a Model S looking much different from a regular car. I'll have to test it sometime.

If it's summer, there will be a hot spot up front somewhere too, where the excess heat from the A/C and battery cooling is shed.

there use to be someone in san diego who could do thermal reactive paint but that was at least 10 years ago not sure it caught on

You'd be surprised!

They're excellent for tracking down heat loss (cold power sockets etc), checking your fuse box loading, underfloor heating adjustments, seeing where the dog was sleeping.....the list is endless!

i only got my because i had to make an 1hr and a half drive to the nearest apple store for a warranty issue that turned out to be a cracked screen protector .. i figured if i made the trip I'm coming back with something
