Thanks Gavin. His armoured cable so you’ll need something fairly hefty to break through that. In the U.K., it meets our Building Regs. Forgot to mention that I paid a few beans more per metre of cable (“HO7”) which is much more flexible and allowed a tighter bend around the 90° corners.

The only place the cable is visible is where it runs above tarmac.

Installation regs apparently state that the cable must either be buried a spade depth underground, or must be visible. I thought this was a great compromise to have it just at gravel level.

Yellow arrow shows where the cable had to exit the house. The distribution box was 1½ metres inside the house. The cable had to run all the way round to the garage on the right.
