    Model Y - Hands On

As you can see, it isn't a whole lot better. However it doesn't hit the light now, so vibrations won't damage the paint any longer. They touched up the paint as well, so unless I point it out, you wouldn't notice. Service Manager claimed it was within 'Tesla spec' now, but that sure doesn't...

    Model Y - Hands On

I have had a service call specifically for the rear hatch. It started catching on the passenger side and dropped back closed. Had a service tech come to my house and he resolved the catching, but the passenger edge was still touching on the right edge. They requested that I bring in the car...

    Homelink on MY?

As far as I know, it is just an integrated garage door opener. Like most things Tesla, it goes beyond what everyone else does (like Saghost mentions). I just had it installed on my MY yesterday, a Tesla technician came to my house and installed it. So between the advanced capabilities, AND...

    Model Y - Hands On

One of my first trips in my M3 was 188 miles to the first super charger and we BARELY made it (8 miles of range), exact same trip actually. We did have aero wheels on. The M3 was charged fully, showing 308miles of range when we left. Granted we drove between 78-82mph, it was around 32 degrees...

    Model Y - Hands On

I typically am in areas, or with people, that I can't test the fast cornering. But what I have done seemed very solid to me and similar to our Model 3 AWD. I haven't driven a Model S, so can't compare to it. This is so subjective that I have been hesitant to comment, but I think anyone would...

    Model Y - Hands On

Looks the same to me, but haven't compared them side by side. They both look awesome.
  7. SilverSmith

    Model Y - Hands On

The range seems very similar to our Model 3 (18mo old, AWD with Aero wheels). I think all the improvements in range were just mitigated by the heavier car. We did a 186 mile drive yesterday and at the destination only had about 15 miles range left. I had cruise set to 80 most of the time and...

    Model Y - Hands On

Yes to both, the doors and front cabin feet areas are lit.

    Model Y - Hands On

Measurements were listed back a few pages. Post #69 & 82 on page 4 & 5. Oh and your dogs view will be the same as the second row passengers, you know his/her head will be handing over the seat!

    Model Y - Hands On

Haven't been driving too much since the corona virus, but I will be doing a road trip this weekend (300 miles and back). So the items that need me to be driving, we should compile a list so I can test them. But for this one, I am pretty sure I would have noticed on my small trip last weekend...

    Model Y - Hands On

Just got my second charger today, version 3. Thought someone would want to see the difference in size. It is smaller in every dimension, including cable thickness. I will be installing it on the opposite side of my garage door, but that will be a project for next week.
  12. SilverSmith

    Model Y - Hands On

Yes, by me. My M3 has an obvious green tint and tracer lines, the MY doesn't, and didn't dim when I was driving at night.
  13. SilverSmith

    Model Y - Hands On

Note on ground clearance, I just measured my M3 (AWD) and MY (Perf) and I got mixed results. MY at rear jack point: 6" M3 at rear jack point: 5 3/8" MY in center, beneath front door handle: 6 1/8" M3 in center, beneath front door handle: 5 1/8" My M3 is 18 months old, so perhaps there is a bit...

    Model Y - Hands On

Update: Jack points are the same and use the same size pucks on the M3 & MY. Not a big shocker, but since someone asked, there are likely others that wanted to know.

Thanks, looks like they updated the wording and confirms that it is an addition.

    Model Y - Hands On

Couple more detals: Rear wheels are 1.25" wider than the front. 10" wide front, 11.25" wide rear. Doesn't include the inside bead, so another 3/16" or so. Side mirrors have no dimming. P.S. I wish I could update my initial posting, lame I can't edit it so people don't have to read through...

    Model Y - Hands On

I put on 18% on the front windows and it is ever so slightly darker than the rear, nothing you would notice unless looking for it. So the entire back is around 20 to 24% light emission. I don't have a tester, so this is obviously a SWAG.
  18. SilverSmith

    Model Y - Hands On

There is no steering wheel heater. My wife would have loved that feature.
  19. SilverSmith

    Model Y - Hands On

3-6% is what I have heard, based on the average speed. If you are doing a road trip at 80mph+ I have no doubt it would be more pronounced.

    Model Y - Hands On

I think that could have been a good idea before I jacked them all up. Even the video mentions that they need to be in decent shape to stick. It is obviously a nice product if you know you can't avoid curbs, but I am not the biggest fan of how it looks. On another note, I have seen someone put...

Tesla Y Pictures - Interior and Exterior

The M3 and MY are identical in size of the wood strip. I measured the total width across the dash, and the thickness to the right of the screen. Pretty safe to say they are the same, but would have to remove them both to really know 100%.
  22. SilverSmith

    Model Y - Hands On

Funny you mention this, I was thinking the same thing on our M3 Aero wheels. The aero caps are flawless still, but the wheels are scraped up on all four wheels. Looks horrible. I would probably try starting with a 100 grit sander though, grinder could go badly! If you do it, post the before...

Yep, give it a patch or two and I bet it pops back up.

I understand the hesitation, but IMO it isn't worth not ordering over. We always keep a few throw blankets in the trunk, if you put a black blanket over your cargo, it would be completely invisible with the built in tinting. A bit more ghetto, you could pull the bottom shelves add cargo, put...

In Herriman, UT. PM me, I am willing, but between work, family and crossfit/Spartan training, I keep busy. Although my upcoming races this weekend are cancelled. <sigh> Still going down to St. George though for the weekend, so road trip happening soon!

Yes, this is my wife's car and she organized it with it in that spot without any prompting by me. Leaves the frunk open for other items.

As others mention, you can't play CD's directly. I have ripped them in the past, but now just use Audible streamed through my Android phone. I also have a large collection of audio books in MP3 format that I have ripped in the past, I use an audio book reader on my phone, just have to transfer...

Herriman, but was up in Layton last night. My oldest son lives in Layton.

    Model Y - Hands On

Yep, it is really quiet IMO. Next time I am out in the M3 I will try to get some readings there. Might be a while though as my wife and I are working from home now, so no daily commute for the next few weeks.

    Model Y - Hands On

Got a rear view mirror picture of what the rear view from the center mirror looks like. Not the best view, but should give you an idea.
  31. SilverSmith

    Model Y - Hands On

They don't lower all the way. Doesn't bother me personally, as I rarely have rear passengers. But I can see how it could be annoying.
  32. SilverSmith

    Model Y - Hands On

No idea what the Gen 2 vs 3 is, but the part number is 1509564-00-A.
  33. SilverSmith

    Model Y - Hands On

I just went out and opened and closed them side by side (M3 & MY), they are identical (open and close force) with the exception that the MY latches shut just a bit easier.

    Model Y - Hands On

So on my trip today, I measured cabin nose and it seems a lot better than our M3. 55-56db @35mph - asphalt 56-57db @ 75mph - concrete 58db @80mph- concrete 59db @85mph- concrete Taken on my Pixel 3 XL with 'Sound Meter'. Phone sitting on arm rest of console.

Hood is not that study, flexes uncomfortably when closing. I wouldn't put any weight on it.
  37. SilverSmith

    Model Y - Hands On

They look identical, and the inside organizer fits both. Haven't measured everything though.
  38. SilverSmith

    Model Y - Hands On

I did a 54 mile road trip today, mostly flat. 267Wh/mile. Average of 77 MPH.
  39. SilverSmith

I climbed over it yesterday and it didn't break. I weigh 230lbs.

Nope, didn't know I needed to ask about homelink.

    Model Y - Hands On

Drag racer downloaded. ;) Need to find a flat road now.
  42. SilverSmith

    Model Y - Hands On

Fits 4 - 6ft people with ease. 6'4" here and leg room isn't a problem. Or head height.
  43. SilverSmith

    Model Y - Hands On

Definitely closer to the M3, but obviously it is bigger. You will be happy with it I think.
  44. SilverSmith

    Model Y - Hands On

I don't know anything about the Model X seats, never been in one. But the seats in the M3 and MY are very comfortable.
  45. SilverSmith

    Model Y - Hands On

As before, the hatchback is curved, seats aren't perfectly perpendicular, so take with a grain of salt. 84" from back of passenger seat (as forward tilt and slide as you can) to the hatchback, straight line back on center of seat. 73" from back of driver seat (as back as possible on slide...

    Model Y - Hands On

Reading the manual are for those that can't play with the real thing! Just joking, just too busy responding to all the questions. haha
  48. SilverSmith

    Model Y - Hands On

Nope, I measured from armrest to armrest with the doors closed. So hip width for three people/car seats to fit. But the width of seat itself is nearly identical at 51".

    Model Y - Hands On

Discovered a center seat bonus, the head rest slides up for the center passenger. I like it! Cup holders are nice too.
