    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2014

If we've learned anything over the last year it's selling TSLA is a bad idea.

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2013

Profit taking from momentum traders who have moved on. The first sign of weakness starts a cascading effect in these things. I mean also the stock is really highly valued so a lot of people are going to call a top and take profits as well as begin shorting something that isn't moving up every...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2013

Emotion is such a big part of it. Given enough times bears have ben able to take control which isn't especially hard when a stock rises so fast. At some point enough people will take their profits and move on to the next easy score. My only concern is I think it's expected they blow out again...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2013

The market has ben cautious but still posted really impressive gains for October. Cautious is good. I think everyone is so concerned with bubbles and big crashes that the market isn't getting too carried away with itself. Plus we're in this whole QE experiment and nobody really knows if it...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2013

the big difference is how insanely cheap calls were in Q1. We were buying Jan 14 calls for at a 45 strike for like 150 a contract then and other contracts even more out of the money for like $50 a contract and it was so obvious they were going to come in. I hope you're right but I think I'm...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2013

So many momentum stocks of the first half of the year seem broken and the bears have taken control. Careful on the ER night. Do not be surprised to see a quick AH gain followed by a big run down. Be especially careful with options. Please don't put more than you can lose on calls this time...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2013

Ha, I've been lurking. But honestly haven't been involved with the stock one way or another the last few months. However, I'm loving the negative sentiment, the bold shorts and the resulting lower price coupled with the a new ER on the horizon. I'm fairly tied up with a few other positions...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2013

Impossible to know but everything looks down for a week or 2 more here. Shorts are getting quite bold and I wouldn't be shocked to see this guy fall into the 140 range rather quickly. I'm considering moving back into TSLA for the ER and seeing what happens but it's all based on what happens...

I bought the TAN ETF awhile back at around 17. Nice thing as it's about as diversified as you can get.

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2013

TSLA could be setting up for a nice pop on ER day. It has been a bit fragile and institutions have been taking profits keeping the stock down or sideways. Everyone expects good news from TSLA again but if there's great news, it could push it past 200 and let it run - especially if we're...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2013

Lots of AAPL since early July when it was around 385 (LEAP's mainly) and have been accumulating more, especially when it dipped recently to 460's. Some GOOG as well last week, playing ER with them. Waiting for some timing - wanted back into some TSLA last week, but got greedy looking for a...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2013

Hey guys, Just want to say hi! Haven't posted lately much at all - busy traveling a lot for work but also just don't have a big position in TSLA anymore. Was a thrill going from 30's to this insane level and happy I shared it with all of you this year. I remember discussions about "I'd sell...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2013

TSLA is far and away valued at perfection right now but it's still not worth the risk to short or buy puts. There's too much goodwill right now and it just keeps winning that if you're in the business of shorting there's far better opportunities out there. It's in a range right now and going...

When dealing with high speculation assets it's always best to leave some margin cushion. Granted SCTY fell big, quickly. But always leave some decent padding to absorb an instant 20% drop. More if options are in play.

Oh man, you can't ask for second opinion on these kinds of trades. It's really mainly gambling unless you really are that ahead of the market like many of us here on TSLA were months ago. You know this asset better than a broker does - you need to act on your own and be true to yourself on it.

Same here mainly. I got greedy and wanted 28 to get in big. Something told me to dump a load of cash standing by into it yesterday but hey, if we could predict the future we'd be trillionaires.

Good tip, will research more. Pharmaceuticals always scare me - seems like either massive boom or hey bust out, and they usually bust. However, I have a bit of money set aside for a higher risk investment. Do you know more about them?

    NYU professor on TSLA valuation

Nobody really knows what the value of this company should be. I do believe it is valued very high right now, but that doesn't mean it won't be valued higher in the future.

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2013

What I didn't like is TSLA was very eager to move down when a bit of a market panic happened in the morning when Putin had some Syria comment about support. TSLA fell faster and harder than anything else I was watching at that time which make me suspicious it is an asset people will quickly...

I have to sort of agree here. I'm actually looking for a $27 entry. I sold everything months ago at $33 and didn't believe in the massive bubble it made. Even when we got to 29 months ago I thought it was sort of silly...

What other tech stock to consider?

AAPL LEAPS's were the most obvious thing to buy a month and a half ago - I still think they are too. Sadly, you don't get the dividend with LEAP's but you get a ton of leverage. I also like Tableau Software. Got in low 50's and it has been doing well. Recently sipped a bit from ATH of 77 so...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2013

IF you can't act quickly you are never safe just holding your calls with TSLA. This thing is as volatile as they come and as possible to go to 200 as it is to fall to 120. Either set stop's or buy put's.

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2013

I'm still in a very small position with TSLA. I still fear more downside. Options are overpriced and there isn't any predictable news ahead. Might be sideways for awhile here - I feel comfortable at this price and it fits a lot of price targets. I could be wrong but I think over the next 2...

I'm still convinced to expand my position. Sold off mostly everything last week except a small position, waiting to get back in with LEAP's if we get to low 130's. However, this is beginning to look convincing.

Yeah, I'm sort of thinking this too. I sold my SEP calls a few days ago, but am considering getting back in on them. I've also unloaded some stock over the last few days so my position is small right now. I'm waiting on some more downside but TSLA is holding up fairly well...

Pretty high volume in pre-market, really. And a lot of negative sentiment in terms of bubble-speak. However, we've had negative PM's that end up in big gains... It could, or should I say will, be a really wild day to be sure. So far 148 seems to be the support in PM...

I can understand profit taking and covered call writing. For those of us in since sub $35, how much more greedy can you be? For someone like Curt, who has ALWAYS been in the hold camp, writing covered calls at this point makes sense. There's a chance you could lose and a good chance - but you...

Would be nice if the market would help out some here - green globally but the US markets sort of liming along today; choppy. I have most of my positions in TSLA and DATA, both up over 15% the last 2 days. Now, some green markets could really get the fire going!

Overall a decent day. Essentially in the middle of the high and low of the day, a bit lower than its close. The same sort of feelings after Q1. If I recall, the next couple days were positive followed by a TSLA Tuesday. I sense that a lot of AUG option holders were hoping for a bigger boost...

This breakout is on heavy volume - this is a good thing. Wish I would bought those weekly 160 calls I mentioned earlier when TSLA fell to 153 - just don't have the time to manage it under such short time and pressure. Congrats to all those raking it in! This is great!

I agree. However it isn't crazy to limit risk either after such an amazing run of insane ups and downs so far. I do think stock is the place to be finally. Option calls are so expensive. I'm not selling covered calls but I don't like the call prices either. A good strategy, IMO, right...

What an amazing run! I'm still on vacation in Europe and did a check this afternoon (morning in NYC) and saw how well behaved TSLA has been. I had to sell a bit of my position going into earnings but holding strong the rest. Will buy some options tomorrow perhaps... This has been magical.

Everyone needs to manage their money and risk. However, not taking advantage of this TSLA bull the last few months in a variety of ways would be horrible too. I know plenty of us have booked enough profits that the risk is very manageable at this point. I, for one, am not just doubling down...

Not sure yet, going to wait and see what happens the next few days. The stock closed strong it looks like so I have no idea right now. I feel like it's moving up fast in anticipation so might just wait until Monday or Tuesday next week to figure it out. If it keeps moving up, it would make...
