Anyone with real high safety scores in urban, high traffic areas?

Yeah - a message flashes that it will brake at the upcoming light and then starts applying them whether it is red or green.
  2. Q

Anyone with real high safety scores in urban, high traffic areas?

What is the best strategy when the vehicle approaches stoplights where it just stops. Disengage, proceed through and re-engage?
  3. Q

Anyone with real high safety scores in urban, high traffic areas?

Ah good to know. I can't seem to find info on that and I typically don't use AP in heavy traffic with complex directions.
  4. Q

Anyone with real high safety scores in urban, high traffic areas?

Hey all - like many I'm trying to qualify for the beta and I've been hovering around 94-95 SS for the past month or two. The problem is that I can't seem to drive safely/appropriately and get it higher in a high traffic urban environment (aggressive drivers, heavy traffic, getting cut off...

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

I'm also interested...my number one suggested quality of life improvement for this car would be a powered frunk. Who did it and how much?

Love the videos. How'd the 70.3 go (i used to do tris)?
  7. Q

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

Make sure to cross compare with carmax, carvana, etc. Carmax offered me $11k more than Tesla (2017 Model S w/ 59k miles).
  8. Q

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

Carmax offered more than $10k more than Tesla (and also carvana) for our 2017 Model S (75D, 58k miles). Makes trading in a bit more complicated but $10k is worth a lot of complications. Picking our MXLR up tomorrow!
  9. Q

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

Wow seriously lowball offer on trade-in model S - like $25k less (slightly less than 50%) than the price of the lowest comparable which is also on the complete opposite side of the country) vehicle. I looked through tesla inventory, carmax, carvana, autotrader. Time to sell elsewhere although it...

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

Hmmm...if vehicle registration (in California) has an OR on it between title holders does that mean only one needs to be present to sell/trade in? Hard to find info on this stuff! edit: OK looks like if 'OR' is in title then only one party needs to be present. One problem down.
  11. Q

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

Good to know! My wife is already out of country and we haven't documented power of attorney. We also want to trade in the current model S where she is on title (with me) so we'll have to see....hoping to maybe get ahold of a real person on Monday and work it out. How exactly did having a home...

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

Like many here, we received our vin number and updated EDD (jun28-jul1). Unfortunately my wife is in Europe until Jul11. We were planning to trade in our S (or sell if money was better) and finance the rest. Her name is on title with mine so not sure where that leaves us. Once I get contacted...

Best hitch mounted bike rack (for mountain bikes) for Model X refresh?

Yeah the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 looks pretty good. Drooling over this pricier model but don't think I can justify it... https://www.kuat.com/product/piston-pro-x/
  14. Q

Best hitch mounted bike rack (for mountain bikes) for Model X refresh?

Anyone have any feedback on hitch mounted bike racks they have that work well with the Model X? Looking to carry two bikes and I'm mostly looking for ease of use, usability with back liftgate/door and compatibility with sensors/cameras (don't want errors or warnings!).
  15. Q

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

Wow. How many miles on the 75D? (I have a late 2017 with 60k miles and will be selling/trading in).

    TMC fanfiction is...interesting.
  17. Q

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

I have a 5 seater on order and specifically do not want to 7 seater as it cuts significantly into storage space with minimal to non-existent usability in our case.
  18. Q

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

HECK YEAH! Make it through the EOQ without having some sickening alert that my car was ready (been July EDD for a while now). I kept refreshing the app in dread that I'd be called in with some huge percent chance of getting a car with a lot of problems. I'll happily wait and take (hopefully) a...

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

Good way to move the same inventory at a higher price as the quarter ends. I really don't get people being excited to get a VIN right now...hell no with end of quarter. Get back to me at the end of April and I'll be happy.
  20. Q

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

Same. I'd choose the 20s even if the 22s weren't more money.
  21. Q

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

I'm honestly hoping my July EDD doesn't get changed to this quarter. WAY too many end of quarter issues in general for Teslas and then we have these extended waits for services as well. My Model S has a couple of issues including a driver side door handle that won't extend and service has...

Any owner or pro reviews of the refresh?

I'm scheduled for April but certainly not holding my breath lol. I just want to see reviews (anywhere!), comparisons and subjective experiences from owners dammit!
  23. Q

Any owner or pro reviews of the refresh?

Not meaning to knock OCD at all but looking for more than review of a stationary car with a focus on the interior when much of that is shared with the Model S refresh (tons of videos of that). At this point in the model S refresh cycle (early but a significant number of people with deliveries)...
  24. Q

Any owner or pro reviews of the refresh?

Yeah I've seen that one but it is what I mean by just a rehash of features from a detailer/modder. I am looking for impressions, comparisons to pre-refresh, experiences on the road, etc from real owners or professional reviewers who are willing to talk about driving, etc. I mean, there are a...
  25. Q

Any owner or pro reviews of the refresh?

So odd when I look around here and on the internet/youtube in general - almost impossible to find any impressions/reviews from owners of the refresh. Yes, there is maybe on or two impressions from detailers/modders but those aren't that interesting to me as they mostly just re-list the features...

Are you sure? We could also easily go "yoke v no yoke" or "plaid v LR value". I'm probably forgetting like 3 more.

Thanks for the ANC discussion - anything to break up the "OMAR PLEASE..." and "My Order 2/2 -> March -> Blank -> August -> Blank -> July (OMG WHAT CONFIGURATION IS TEH FASTEST?!?!?! -> Blank" discussion sequences. 😂
  29. Q

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Hah. That was my next observation - if how you (and omar) described it working is true (and it sounds about right to me), other sound sources within the car would be 'cancelled' as well whether that be voices or whatever. I can sort of see why this system would have to be 'smarter' than what we...
  30. Q

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Yeah I am not even close to be being a sound engineer but that is my understanding which is why cancelling sound in the same space it is listened to is confusing to me. Headphone mics measure the sound outside the enclosed headphone speakers and cancels those frequencies. The sound being...
  31. Q

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Yes but isn't there a difference in that engine noise inside a plane is measured outside of the 'space' where the sound is produced (the speaker on the headphone)? I mean, if you listen to someone talk while wearing ANC headphones their voice is a bit muddled because the headphone is cancelling...
  32. Q

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I'm so confused as to how noise cancelling works when the microphones are inside the car. On my headphones the mic is on the outside of the speaker area because that is the sound it is measuring/cancelling. What frequencies does it choose to cancel when the sounds/notes are mixed in with...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Nah a tech demo with larger tires than the Plaid (and a spoiler) will have a different traction limit. That is almost more evidence it is about traction limits.
  34. Q

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Not sure about this case but they are definitely hitting up against some traction limits. Basically you can't accelerate 0-60 any faster than you can brake from 60-0 and their times are almost the same. Great explanation here:
  35. Q

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I don't really worry about myself getting used to the yoke although it would be less than optimal for any sort of performance (or emergency) driving. My wife is going to absolutely HATE it to the point she will want to get rid of the car unless Tesla has some sort of other option. As I ordered a...
  36. Q

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

While this beta UI interface that I'm sure the LR shares with the Plaid is some evidence (and might well be true once the car is released), the facts are that the history of non-performance models does not give any sort of go-faster options. Which 'fact' carries more weight? Who knows. Honestly...
  37. Q

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Tesla's non-performance models haven't ever come with any sort of 'go faster' mode (besides not defaulting to 'chill' lol) before so I'd assume the LR will not either. Right now it looks like the 3.1 is without rollout. That certainly isn't a guarantee but then why differentiate it on the...
  38. Q

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

The question I have is that the Plaid acceleration numbers are all done in plaid and track modes which aren't something you drive around in (typically). So, that is great for the track obviously but I'd like to know the difference between the Plaid and LR if I pull up to the stop light and...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

One of the videos showed that passengers in the back could watch something separately than what is on the main screen but didn't go into whether or not the people in front could control what is being shown on that back screen.
  40. Q

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Historically the non-performance models don't have any sort of 'go faster' mode so I'd assume that number is just 'all the time' power/speed. Which does beg the question, how fast is the Plaid if 'go faster' launch sequence isn't activated (which honestly seems like a PITA).

Truth - picked up a new, mid-trim Mazda CX5 last summer for 22K. That car is pretty freaking great.
  42. Q

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Whether they've changed the wheels or the website is glitching and they have not, they have made it easy to see what it would like with a easy, cheap mod. Silver were OK to me but the black looks awesome.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Anyone else have a trade-in valuation with Tesla and an expiration date for that? And has it changed? It is a little interesting that my trade-in (my existing S) initially had an expiration of 3/17 but at some point around 3/10 that was updated to say '4/1'. Still says 4/1...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Also, whatever forces involved in the decreased range might also effect impact acceleration (sort of makes sense intuitively?). Weight? Rolling resistance? Aerodynamics? Whatever is decreasing the range is impacting acceleration (again, by a really small amount). Yes, my order also still says...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Just going by the numbers/math I've seen thrown around in previous discussions comparing the wheels. I haven't seen any numbers on braking distance but what you say makes sense as well (so I'd agree that the smaller wheels will accelerate faster but brake more slowly). It would be great if Tesla...
