    Supercharger - Toowoomba, Qld

Site not accommodating. Power not available for 6 and upgrading power not justifiable cost benefit?

Current rates of atmospheric CO2 increase are not “natural”

The odd thing is that the atmosphere can tolerate a certain amount of pollution, we've just gone way, way too far past that point. Once (in 100 years or so) when the pollution is down, etc., a small amount of nuclear and even coal might be tolerable, but not right now!

My 3rd door handle failure in 2 years

Similar experience recently. I had the driver's door handle fail and a mobile tech came out to do the job. Internal parts like the spring (original mechanism 2015) were corroded. The rocker gear (original) is a hunk of junk for a car in this price range, really. Anyhow, a corroded circlip...

    Australia government supports for EVs

Let me say, that in spite of lobbying for years already that there is very little movement from any government on this subject. The back sliding bureaucratic paper pushing hyenas do nothing for as long as possible, probably on the assumption that nothing will affect them in their ivory towers...

    Australia government supports for EVs

Of course, the energy density of alkanes is pretty linear between 3 and 8-9 carbon atoms (nonane), so that follows. After 9 carbons the energy density flattens out. However, it's the waste that is the issue, not the energy value.

    Australia government supports for EVs

Your solar panels and mine do come with a carbon cost, that's true. 42 grams of CO2 equivalent per kW-hr generated over the life of the panel compared with 820 per kW-hr for coal fired power. Concentrated solar and wind power are cleaner again. So, your Tesla uses (say) 40 kW-hr for a part...

    'Supercharging' cheaper than fuel...

...and two days after this was announced, Tesla have "revised" the prices 10% downwards, worldwide.

    Australia government supports for EVs

Yeah, except for the fact that the equation I wrote in that post was burning Propane, not Octane  Fortunately, they are both hydrocarbons and propane is a little less polluting (only 3 carbons to burn, instead of 8). Which is why gas-fired power is considered "clean". Petrol (mostly...

    Australia government supports for EVs

I agree that if we don't get our act together Darwinian correction will set in with a vengeance. Like I said, several generations (minimum) will suffer from the effect of climate change/global warming that has already occurred. However, "Matter can not be created or destroyed. Whatever co2 is...

    Australia government supports for EVs

It's not political...so I'll say something radical. . . We all borrow to do something or other, at some time, or other. . . even you Bill Gates, so sit down and shut up. You too, Buffet, or you're in the naughty corner, again. The government of this country (that's Australia - just wanted to...

    Tesla discontinuing 75kwh packs

Ditto, the S70 takes me anywhere and everywhere I want to go, including long distance trips to foreign places like NSW :) However, if a "cheap" 85 or 90 showed up as the new "low end", I wouldn't complain. I think the odds of a 120 eventuating are small given physical constraints, but would be...

Tesla Roadside - Limited in Places

Here is the info from the RACQ as received this morning by email: "I have spoken to our Technical Advice team this morning, they are the department who train our Roadside Assistance staff. They advised me that there is no directive to patrols to not provide service to Tesla vehicles. They did...

Tesla Roadside - Limited in Places

I'll explain in a bit more detail. RACQ certainly do roadside on Teslas. For example, if you have a complete inability to move the car, for some reason, they carry it on a flat bed to the service agent you specify, up to 200 km free depending on member level. I carry so-called "Ultimate...

Tesla Roadside - Limited in Places

I've been told in the past that Tesla have agents all over the place and can bring a tyre to you "anywhere". I was 200 km West of Brisbane last night (in a garage) with a damaged tyre. Rang Tesla service and spoke with a very polite gent on the U.S. side of the line. He was aware of my...

    Supercharger - Broadbeach, Qld

Visited the Broadbeach (Pacific Fair) supercharger site today. I talked to one of the guys at the job and he told me that the comletion date was tomorrow! Also, that they were still waiting on switchboard equipment...so, might be opening in a week or two

    NRMA fast charging network

A decade is looonnnggg time in this field, but I would venture to say that range will be improved to the extent that it will seem like today's Superchargers are tightly packed :) Always possible that adaptors will come along, in spite of present standards.

    Defeating the Autopilot Nag

Never had a problem with it, including the current 21.9 release on a long drive last week. It seems to me that people must not be keeping at least one hand on the wheel. I don't find that very difficult.

The 25mm surely refers to the overall package nominal diameter, including casing?
  47. garyjac

    Cabling for HPWC Install?

Yeah, that's a bit pricey. Similar run of cable here in Brisbane and I think it was $1200 all up and it was the approved installer in that case, but mileage may vary, as they say.
  48. garyjac

    Cabling for HPWC Install?

Have you contacted the Tesla approved installer in your area? They will already have all this information. 4-Core might not be the right cable, as a 3-phase HPWC will require 5 cores - 3 active phases, one neutral line and an earth line.

Yes, oddly enough, some put the future of the world ahead of themselves, or, if we want to show self-interest then we at least show it in the interests of our grandchildren not having to breathe poisonous air and drink poisoned water...etc.. The mystery to me, anyway, is why or politicians (who...
