Why not limit the 3 to 7,5K when the Y is going to see the daylight and produce 2,5K Y's on the same line. I think it's a good balance in the beginning to limit huge investments on new factories. When you earn enough money from the 10K production line, you could set up a new factory. Or produce...

Is there a good posibility that Tesla will produce the Y in Fremont? So without the need to built a complete new factory but integrate it in excisting lines. The Y will me more or less be based on the 3 platform so why not built it as a (improved) 3?

No because production of 2018 VIN's M3 started at 22nd of December. With 9 productions days left (23 till 31 Dec.) they could still make a lot of cars in 2017, but with 2018 VIN's ;-)

Great if they still produce this week! My opinion is that they can even build higher VIN's right now: - Cars build and waiting on the lot's. When a matching order is found, VIN appears on My Tesla. - I guess they use VIN's after Dec. 22th. The 2018 range starts with VIN nr. approx. 3800

Do we know if the Fremont factory production line (for M3) was closed last week? I have read something that it is a closing every year. But this would be the perfect week to build another 1500 cars and count them in the Q4 press release.

With VIN 1910 on delivery soon, it would be produced one or two weeks ago. Quality check has been done after production and takes some time. My guess is that they now produce M3's in VIN range 2000-2500. I am more optimistic at this moment than others here on this page. I think first non...

I am curious when Tesla is going to reserve a new batch of VIN numbers. Should we hit the 5K before end of 2018? My best guess is that they are now building M3's around VIN numbers 1500-2000. Also keep in mind that they switch to year 2018 VIN numbers in December.

Things arent easy to fire up again. But let's watch how the registrated VIN numbers are growing the next couple of weeks. The highest number is now in the 2600's.
