Not really. It’s the only performance so if someone wants anything more than the standard car they have to get the plaid. There’s no lesser performance model to choose from.

Dude. Get a titan tank that’s like 60 gallons or toss an aux tank in the bed, I did the latter and get at least 1,000miles towing.

Why does it need to be in the hands of customers? Tesla has an epa rating and so does lucid, that’s a direct comparison.

Blog Rivian Gets Range Rating of 316 Miles for R1T Pickup

Model X is also an SUV without an open bed or traditional styling. I actually bought a model S to daily instead of my f250 Elon won't have a choice if he wants to take advantage of the billions in government funding. Go look at the payload sticker of any old regular F150 on the lot, 1600 is...

Blog Lucid Air Dream Edition Rated at 520 Miles of Range

Another issue is it's great to say a current tesla has 400 miles A that's epa rated miles at 60-65mph, not real life of driving 75-80. Second issue is no one is taking thier cars from 100-0-100 on a road trip. They may take it to 100 at home and have 100 for the first leg but they aren't taking...

Blog Lucid Air Dream Edition Rated at 520 Miles of Range

I highly doubt that. As many posts as I see for “I have to stop every 2 hours to stretch” I see just as many “I stop when it’s time to fill up” there are entire professions out there who do nothing but drive all day and it’s no bother. Those are the people driving 5,6,8 hours non-stop who will...

A carolla has 500+ range on the highway, a bigger camry has 600+. Pickup trucks have 6-700+ unloaded. so yeah there's plenty of vehicles to choose from.

    New 85kWH battery for my 2013 P85+

I wonder if my 70D would get this same battery under a warranty. Even if they capped it I’d still have the benefit of faster charging on trips; unless they capped the charging as well

    2022 Model S Plaid+ GVWR = 5596 lbs, 4 lbs short for IRS section 179-168 !! Why??

I know this is old but the reason it was done this was, in my eyes, is specifically to avoid being classed as a large vehicle. Being over 6k changes registration and taxes in lots of states and some states consider anything over 6k as a “large vehicle” same reason that Ford offers a 9990 GVWR...

    New 85kWH battery for my 2013 P85+

    Supercharger - Centerville, TX

Correct, 811 dig requests are public, just search for ones with Tesla’s name in it. But if Tesla isn’t burying the cables there’s no need to request a dig permit. The closest you’ll get is the interconnect permit needed to hook up the electric meter but those aren’t a simple 30 second statewide...

    Supercharger - Centerville, TX

Looks like everything is precast and run in conduit above ground. If they keep it up we won’t know when anything is coming because there won’t be any dig permits to look up.

Can the American power grid sustain EV adoption?

Most of the state is deregulated and ESPs charge a flat contracted rate so while the power plants may charge $500/mw the ESP is still charging me 8cents. TOU and tiered plans are not a thing, you have to actively look for them so they’ll have to raise average rates. You really think people are...

Can the American power grid sustain EV adoption?

You don’t have to agree with me you just have to read the numbers. Peak is lasting well into the night. Has nothing to do with “business hours” and everything to do with demand, buildings are still cooled when people leave work and lots of lights are used, people start cooking, washing/drying...

Can the American power grid sustain EV adoption?

Your calculations don’t make much sense. You can’t just take the overall energy production and start dividing stuff, It’s the peak numbers that matter. Total peak generation on my grid is around 68,000 Mw, peak usage during mid summer is around 64,000. So sure there’s plenty of generation around...

Nearly brand new 90 kWh Non-Ludicrous battery pack, v3 - LIMITED TIME

Because if the battery shits the bed in the warranty I get a new/reman battery and some people people have been lucky to get 90 packs since the 70 was discontinued outright. Or if I just get a 70 pack it’ll probably be in better shape than my current one with 12% degradation and worth more in...

saw a mustang ev on road today- YUKKKK what a disgrace to mustang!

“Mustang = muscle car/sports car” huh? Oh how people seem to forget that the Mustang II Pinto exists. No one seems to care that all the muscle cars have V6 engines and now little 4 bangers in them. But a cross over electric is an abomination to the muscle car?

    Tesla Semi

Cell phone network is not fine. Range/coverage is spotty in most of the country outside of city centers, just because I have a phone connection doesn’t mean I have a strong data connection and even if I have an LTE connection it doesn’t mean it’s moving at streaming speeds, even in the middle...

Nearly brand new 90 kWh Non-Ludicrous battery pack, v3 - LIMITED TIME

My 2015 70D is sitting at 213 miles and I can’t wait for the warranty to end. My super charging speeds are down 30-50% and the bulk of charging happens at 50-70kw when 70-90+ was the norm. Tesla of course continues to say everything is normal and because I’m not an electrical engineer, their...

    A Better Routeplanner

So I’m playing around with EVTP and it’s missing some things I feel are key. Here’s a screen shot of what I see. ABRP also allows reference speed but includes max speed. In Texas we usually tend to go at least 10 over the limit and you’ll usually have a group going 85+. So I can put in a...

    New 85kWH battery for my 2013 P85+

    Upgrade to FSD $4,000

Also ask everyone across the pond who now have Tesla's with two different charge ports. The S/X have a Telsa plug and the 3/Y have CCS. Tesla had to go back and add CCS plugs to every super charger. Not to mention the Roadster has its own plug that Tesla abandoned when they developed the S.
